NWDA Annual Meeting, Elections & Food Drive The NWDA 2011 Annual Meeting & Election will be held Monday, May 23, 6:00 to 7:30 pm in the Legacy Good Samaritan Wistar-Morris Conference Room (1015 NW 22nd Avenue). Balloting will close at 7:15 p.m. The May board meeting will be held immediately afterward, from 7:30 to 8:00 p.m. In addition to electing board candidates, members will vote on two proposed amendments to NWDA bylaws. Agendas for both meetings are available online at the NWDA website. If you're an NWDA member, please plan to attend this annual meeting, hear what the candidates have to say about why they are running, and make your voice count as one of the many diverse voices that make up this great Northwest Portland neighborhood. As if the opportunity to elect your local neighborhood association representatives isn't enough to assure your attendance, all members present will be entered in a raffle for three Key Bank Club tickets to a Timbers match in September. In addition, the NWDA will be collecting food at this meeting for the Nob Hill Food Drive, sponsored by Northwest Portland Ministries. Please bring a donation of shelf-stable milk (needs no refrigeration before opening), peanut butter, canned fruits and vegetables, and canned meat or fish. If you prefer to make a cash contribution, checks should be made out to Northwest Portland Ministries.

Neighborhood Emergency Preparedness Needs
Neighbors West-Northwest is currently eligible for funding to work on coalition-wide emergency preparedness projects, and we need your help. NWNW and POEM are gathering information from neighborhood volunteers about the type of emergency preparedness programs that are essential to neighborhood risk reduction efforts - and then we will use the information gathered to develop a program that will serve the entire coalition area.
Examples of projects being considered by other coalitions include do-it-yourself emergency management workshops, removing invasive plants that pose fire risks, creating community communication plans, neighborhood resource mapping, and developing tool libraries.
Please send your priorities for developing specific risk reduction tools. to Angela Southwick. Patty Rueter from the Portland Office of Emergency Management will be visiting NWNW on May 24 to share more about how the coalition can use the funds.
