Cornell Road Sustainability Seeks Grant Funds
The Cornell Road Sustainability Coalition has submitted an application for a $100,000 Metro Grant to help plan the future of Cornell Road.
The Cornell Road Sustainability Coalition (CRSC) was formed in 2008 and includes representatives from the Audubon Society of Portland, Bicycle Transportation Alliance, Forest Park Conservancy, and Forest Park, Hillside, NW Heights, and NW District Neighborhood Associations. The CRSC is working to define, recommend, and implement a strategy to remedy the negative effects of excessive commuter traffic along the "Cornell Corridor" as it passes through Forest Park.
The CRSC seeks to build consensus and understanding of the importance of protecting and preserving the neighborhoods and wildlife sanctuaries through which Cornell Road passes. Rather than simply limiting commuter traffic, the coalition strives to find a balanced and inclusive solution that benefits all stakeholders, while supporting eco-friendly "green" policies and goals for sustainability that encourage low carbon footprint initiatives and improved access for automobile-alternative transportation.
