Greetings from Neighbors West-Northwest, and a warm welcome to our new e-News subscribers!  Please save the date for our upcoming annual fundraiser on May 6th, 2010.  The evening will feature a live theater performance of This Lime Tree Bower, raffle prizes, and refreshments/mingling with your neighbors.  For more information, or to volunteer for the event, contact events@nwnw.org.
Haiti Fundraiser

The Society for Haitian Arts and Culture presents - Haiti:  Emergency Relief Fundraiser Photographic Display Before and After

Date and Time:  Saturday, Jauary 23rd, 10 am - 5 pm
Location:  4415 NE 87th and Sandy, Central Northeast Neighbors (behind the firehouse).

Your generous donations will go directly to helping Haitians in need.  SHAC members are traveling to Haiti to deliver medical supplies, temporary emergency shelters, food and clothing.  Call or email Judith Gelin (503-257-1014) for more information. 
PSU EcoDistrict and Downtown

Portland Downtown Neighborhood Association General Meeting

The topic of this upcoming meeting of the Portlanecodistrictd Downtown Neighborhood Association will be the PSU EcoDistrict - What's in the works and how can it be expanded to perhaps include more of downtown. 

An ecodistrict is a district or neighborhood that is resource efficient; captures, manages and re-uses most of its own energy, water, and waste; provides a range of transportation options; provides a diversity of habitat and open space; and enhances community engagement and well being.

Loaves and Fishes Superbowl Sunday

This year, celebrate Superbowl Sunday at Loaves and Fishes (1032 SW Main St.).  The game will be televised in the dining room on Sunday, February 7th.  Purchase a $5 ticket for food, prizes, and good company.  To buy a ticket or learn more, call 503-953-8204.
Zimmerman Community Conversations

Zimmerman Community Center invites you to attend a community conversation to determine activities and interests to embark on in 2010.  Share your feedback by taking the survey

Please RSVP to one of these community conversations, and we'll send the location.  RSVP to nancy@zcommunitycenter.org

At the conversations, we'll discuss the survey results in greater detail to make sure we really understand what you want. 
River Plan

The City Council public hearing on the North Reach Recommended Draft is scheduled for Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 2:00 pm. The hearing will be held at City Hall, 1221 SW 4th Avenue, in Council Chambers. Please submit written testimony to:

Coalition Wide Neighborhood Clean Up

Are you interested in holding a large clean up within our coalition?  If there is enough volunteer interest we will be holding a large-scale recycling and disposal event this spring!  This disposal and recycling event is a great way to bring the community together to properly dispose of waste.  Contact Alison for more information.
