Greetings from Neighbors West-Northwest!  Summer is a great time for vacations and holidays. It is also a great time to catch up with your neighbors--or meet new ones. Continue reading to find out more about some upcoming special events!
Good Deals at the Portland Downtown Yard Sale

Join your neighbors in the South Park Blocks for the first annual yard sale hosted by the Portland Downtown Neighborhood Association. Visit the South Park Blocks this Saturday to get a good deal. PDNA  

Space is available to sell all those items taking up space in the back of your closet. Show up early to register the day of the event, or register early at Umpqua Bank (1241 SW 10th Ave.) during business hours:  Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM and Saturdays from 10 am to 2 PM. Site selection is available on a first come, first serve basis.

Date and Time:  Saturday, July 18th - Setup from 7 - 9 AM, Sale from 9 AM - 5 PM, Breakdown from 5 - 7 PM.

Sidewalk Obstruction Public Meeting

City of Portland Commissioners Fish and Fritz are hosting a public forum to discuss sharing public spaces and providing services to people living outside. Public spaces include rights of way, parks and gathering places. City Council extended Sidewalk Obstruction Ordinance to initiate a public dialogue before making a final decision. A report by the Safe Access for Everyone (SAFE) Committee will inform this discussion.

Dragon Moon Festival in Old Town Chinatown

Get outside this summer and head to the Dragon Moon Festival, the premier festival celebrating Asian culture in the city of Portland.  The Dragon Moon Festival features commercial vendor booths, food merchants, an Asian Beer & Sake Garden, and Arts & Crafts Pavilion.  Admission is free.

National Night Out between July 28th & August 9th

Looking for a fun way to connect with your neighbors?  Consider hosting or attend a local National Night Out party.  National Night Out is an annual event celebrated across the United States and Canada that focuses on strengthening community and preventing crime. If you would like to host an official Portland National Night Out party, you must register with the City's Office of Neighborhood Involvement Crime Prevention program.  Parties held between July 28 and August 9 can be registered as official parties.

Goose Hollow Party at PGE Park

Goose Hollow Foothills League will be holding its annual picnic at PGE Park Park on August 19 to see the Portland Beavers take on the Iowa Cubs.  This event is free to Goose Hollow residents and members, so come meet your neighbors for a hosted event in the Beer Garden at the field level -- food and drinks will be provided. 

Neighborhood board members will be manning a table just outside PGE
park in the NW corner to provide tickets. Please bring your proof of residency (e.g. driver's license, utility bill).
