Happy New Year from Neighbors West-Northwest!  We have a variety of exciting events lined up for the coming months, and hope that you take the time to join us.   
A Breathable Future

Are you concerned about air pollution in your local neighborhood?  Come to a new presentation about air pollution by Oregon Physicians for Social Responsibility, with a panel of local experts and activists including the Northwest District Association.

Date:  Wednesday, January 28th
Time:  Presentation at 6:30 pm, Panel discussion at 8:00 pm

Final Call for Photo Contest Submissions

Final call for submissions to the Neighbors West-Northwest photo contest - Neighborhood Faces, Neighborhood Places.  Please email your submissions to alison@nwnw.org by the deadline of January 30th, 2009.  Entries and an online voting form will be posted online in the first week of February.

Upcoming Event - Pedestrian Rights Clinic

Do you like to walk, but feel ignored by cars? Did you know that pedestrians have the right of way in all crosswalks, marked and unmarked?  Neighbors West-Northwest invites you to learn about your rights as a pedestrian and how to Crosswalkprosecute dangerous drivers.

Neighborhood Clean Up Collaboration!

It's neighborhood clean-up season and it's time for a refresher course in clean up basics at the NW library.  Do you have the vision to make your neighborhood more beautiful, safe or environmentally friecleanup picndly?  Come learn about ways to clean up without being overwhelmed.

Leading a clean-up doesn't have to be stressful and this training will show you the variety of ways you can make a difference.  Help is here; there is no better time to get involved!  Please RSVP or ask questions at 503-823-4265 or alison@nwnw.org.

An Evening of Visioning with Goose Hollow

Neighbors, Come Share Your Ideas about the Future of Goose Hollow!  The Board of the Goose Hollow Foothills League is hosting an evening of visioning.  Come join us to think about what our dream neighborhood could look like and think about how to get there. A power point presentation on the strengths, challenges, and possibilities of the Goose Hollow foothills will be discussed, with lots of opportunities for your comments.

Advocacy in Action:  An Interactive Community Forum
Neighbors West-Northwest, CAT, and Sisters of the Road present an interactive community forum.  Join fellow Portland based community advocates for an evening of reflection, discussion, and learning.  Hear about diverse organizing efforts in housing rights, homelessness, and local livability issues.  Build skills in individualized workshops ranging from advocating at city hall to community organizing.
