Artist Open House at Montage

Calling artists and art lovers alike! Montage Art Studio & Gallery is hosting an open house on August 18th from 1pm to 5pm. Come explore what this collective art space has to offer, and find the perfect outlet for your work. Montage's unique atmosphere provides opportunities for working studio space, exhibitions, main gallery rotations, classes, as well as ongoing shows. The studio gives artists the necessary space to work while simultaneously allowing access from the public to interact on a personal level. The doors are open, so come in and meet the artists while they work. Don't miss your opportunity to be a part of Tempe's new art experience.

Bad Mother Cluckers Celebrates Opening with FREE Chicken
August 24-25, 2012 
 

 

This month, a new restaurant will be serving their signature rotisserie and fire grilled chicken to the Mill Avenue District. On August 24 & 25, Bad Mother Cluckers will be celebrating their grand opening by giving away free chicken to hungry customers. You don't want to miss this opportunity to try the delicious recipes offered by this new business.

 

In addition to chicken, the menu will include a variety of salads and sides. The restaurant features a large indoor dining area, a patio, and serves beer & wine. Bad Mother Cluckers plans to stay open late, providing another 2am dining option for the bar crowds on Mill Avenue.

 

The chicken roasters new location at 26 E. University, makes great use of a long abandoned building in Downtown Tempe. The building, located just steps east of Mill Avenue, has been empty for many years and was in need of major repairs. Bad Mother Cluckers have cleaned the building up, added light and windows, and will add some needed vibrancy to the stretch of University with their unique style and flavor.

First Event- August 30, 2012

We're kicking off the celebration before kick off! This season, Devils on Mill at 6th Street Park is the place to be before ASU home games for live music, food, games and more.

 

As part of Devils on Mill, Mill Avenue District merchants will offer a "Taste of Mill". So, walk around, eat some delicious food and take advantage of everything Downtown Tempe has to offer! Participating restaurants include: Margarita Rocks, Tavern on Mill, Bad Mother Cluckers, Paletas Betty, Capriottis,  Slickables Ice Cream Sandwich, Bison Witches, and Mojo Yorgurt.

Tempe Local Shows art at Montage Art Studio & Gallery

Long-time Tempe local Ken Lowell is showcasing his work at Montage Art Studio and Gallery through the month of August. In April, Ken was announced the winner of the PAINT OUT TEMPE artist event and awarded a exhibition in the gallery. Ken's art brings a unique edge to the gallery capturing both fantasy and whimsy through mixed media on canvas. Visit his exhibition at Montage's Open House on August 18th from 1pm to 5pm or during Montage's summer hours.


Ken, a Tempe resident for over twenty years, has been actively involved in the community and is a Downtown Tempe business owner. Creator of Spark Design in the Mill Avenue District, Ken is a successful graphic designer as well as a talented painter.

Tempe Center for the Arts staff member Michelle Dock will lead children and parents through a hands-on art project that includes a special Polaroid sticker photo taken in the Gallery. Tempe librarian Rolf Brown will lead adults through basic genealogical research methods and demonstrate the use of web-based ancestry resources. Free admission.

Join us for an free evening of instruction and learning with Matt Sterbenz demonstrates his knowledge of oil painting and landscapes. Matt will discuss and demonstrate painting the Southwestern landscape using plein air sketches and photographs as reference. He will discuss his process, materials, color theory and composition. Attendants will be able to see paintings in various stages of completion, and will be able to ask questions during this informal demonstration.

Exhibiting artist Annie Lopez will lead a workshop about art making and writing. Visitors of all ages can bring their own copies of family photographs or use miscellaneous photocopies provided by the artist. First, participants will write short stories, poems or statements about the images and then color and decorate the work to tell a family story.

Today, Arizonans continue to take advantage of the state's most abundant resource for anything from agriculture and solar power to golfing and hiking. Artists display works that depict scenes about the sun or works that are inspired by the sunlight in Arizona.
