Fantasy of Lights Opening Night Parade

Saturday, November 26  6:00 pm

 

Fantasy of Lights 2011Enjoy the beauty of the holidays amid the glittering lights of the Mill Avenue District as we celebrate the season. On Saturday, November 26, Fantasy of Lights kicks off with the Opening Night Parade, the tree lighting ceremony,  and the arrival of Santa Claus who will take his seat and listen to children's special gift requests at MADCAP theaters. Enjoy the magical parade and support your Mill Avenue District businesses this holiday season while shopping in the most festive atmosphere in the Valley!

 

Get Your Float On! 

 

Fantasy of Lights Parade Float There is still time to submit your application to participate in the parades for Fantasy of Lights 2011.  The Opening Night Street Parade is Nov 27 and the Boat Parade at Tempe Beach Park is December 10. Grab your friends, pick a theme, and design the float you've always dreamed of so you can participate in this special community event.

 

Want to be a Star?

Wintersong CarolersOr, if you don't want to have a float or a boat in the parades, you can still be involved as a pre-parade performer. We need singers, dancers, buskers, jugglers, or bring your own surprise talent and perform for the crowds BEFORE the parades begin. The crowds will be lingering around waiting for the parade to begin and would love to see what you have to offer. This is your chance to shine!

Southwest Brewfest

Saturday, November 5  Noon-6pm

 

Enjoy a day of Beer, Food, and fun at Centerpoint on Mill located

at 7th St and Mill. SW BrewfestAlong with dozens of international and

domestic beers, you will have the opportunity to taste the mouth- watering BBQ from 98KUPD's own Brady Bogen and Midwestern Meats. For those of you whose taste buds lean towards wine, there will also be a "Wine Cellar" area with wines from all over the world!

MONTAGEMix and mingle with the new artists of Mill Avenue  for the preview of Montage! This is a working art studio where selected artists will be painting, sculpting, creating, and there is even a gallery with pieces for purchase. This is a great opportunity to meet the talented local artists of Montage and spend a leisurely evening soaking up the culture.

Joshua Garber The Ragamuffin Stampede

Influenced by tradional folk music, punk rock, and protest songs, The Ragamuffin Stampede, which ranges in size from six to nine members, is an acoustic amalgamation of love and friendship as expressed through music. The group first emerged in spring 2010 with the intent of using its music as a catalyst to empower the despondent, inspire positive social change, build community, and encourage dancing.

Ironman Sets the Pace for a Great Event

Ironman Ford Ironman Arizona, returns to downtown Tempe! This year's triathlon kicks off with a single-loop swim in Tempe Town Lake, followed by a challenging bike course through the Sonoran Desert and finishes with a spectator-friendly run around Tempe Town Lake and Papago Park.

 

This is a great opportunity to see some of the most motivated athletes around as they push themselves to the limit. You can get up close to the action to watch them compete, while enjoying all that Downtown Tempe has to offer!
