In a poor neighborhood in 1960's Lodz, Poland, 10-year-old Tadek and his brother are in a gang with a strong anti-Semitic bent. When they are arrested, their mother, a Holocaust survivor, has no choice but to reveal that though raised as Catholics, they are in fact Jews. This tender and humorous drama is based on the filmmaker's own experiences. We are honored to have "My Lovely Sister" actress Reymonde Amsalem, winner of Best Supporting Actress in the Israeli Academy Awards, at the screening of this film. The Jerusalem Post calls "My Lovely Sister" a "thought-provoking and well-acted film" about sibling rivalry. Without being "preachy," this film tactfully navigates the tensions created by intermarriage between Jews and Arabs. Read the full review here.
