Jobs and economic development were the topics of concern this week as Consul General Daniel Kutner traveled to the Dayton-Wilmington area to promote business opportunities between Ohio and Israel. Together with Mr. Zvi Herman, the Embassy's Minister for Agricultural Affairs in Washington, the two met with key Ohio, national and international figures to make head business in the right direction.
The delegation visited with several local companies that do business with Israel, like Airborne Maintenance and Engineering Services (AMES), an aircraft maintenance and engineering firm for whom Israel Aircraft Industries converts passenger planes to cargo.
They also visited inspection and quarantine facilities that are interested in the export of livestock to Israel, possibly through the Wilmington airport, pending a forthcoming agreement between the two countries.
In a meeting with the Dayton Development Coalition, they were briefed on the developing ties between local and Israeli tech companies. This meeting was attended by Dayton Commissioners and the Mayor Gary Leitzell.
Consul General Kutner and Mr. Herman took the opportunity to speak about Israel, and particularly its agriculture, to students and faculty of Wilmington College. Later in the visit, they spoke to a group of Jewish community leaders and members at a luncheon organized by the Jewish Federation of Greater Dayton.
This Ohio visit was facilitated by State Representative Cliff Rosenberger with the help of Joyce Gerber Keller of the Ohio Jewish Communities. State Reps. John Adams and Bob Peterson also participated in the meetings with companies and local authorities.
The Consulate looks forward to continuing to advancing economic development with Ohio and all states in its 6-state, Mid-Atlantic region.
