Greetings!

Now that I am back from Kauai, I am excited to share some of the "island energy" with you.  :)

For 10 days, I was attending a training for traditional Hawaiian Lomi Bodywork and also leading all the participants in morning yoga.

Each morning, I would talk about the fundamental aspects of yoga and later in the day, I'd find those same principles taught back in the context of the healing Lomi bodywork.

Concepts such as
- Awareness (Ike in Hawaiian)
- Focused intention (Makia)
- Presence of mind (Manawa)
- Being limitless & free (Kala)
- Being full of love (Aloha)
- Harnessing energy (Mana)
- Finding balance within (Pono)

And at some point, I came to a profound realization:  we are truly UNITED in the way in which we create well-being and empower ourselves and each other.

It didn't matter that Yoga originated from Indian yogis or that Lomi Lomi was passed down by indigenous Hawaiians.  In fact, when looking at other ancient spiritual teachings around the world, we again find these similar concepts as guides to happy, harmonious living.

Many times we lose ourselves in the surface-level dissimilarities of our belief systems, and we never dig deep enough to see the similarities of our essence as human beings.

I find myself extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to deepen my understanding of what binds us rather than what separates us.  This is what Lomi taught me... this is what Yoga teaches me every day.

In Grace and With Gratitude... Aloha and Mahalo!
