Greetings!

We've all hear this adage before and we all understand it... intellectually.  Putting it into practice it another story!  Especially when some of us may be experiencing difficult times, it is easy to get anxious and want an end to that difficulty.

Or when in the midst of an important task or project, it is easy to be anxious for the end result.  Recently, I have found myself in this predicament.  My big summer project (the production of my first Yoga DVD!) has got me anxious for the finished product.

Thankfully, I have found myself returning time and time again to my yoga teachings.  On the mat, I go into a pose, find my first point of resistance, take a deep breath, and wait... I wait for my body to receive the pose in it's natural progression.  And as this is happening, I am able to really experience the moment and enjoy it for what it is.  On the mat, I am patient with myself, with my body.

It is this practice that then helps me "off the mat".  When I get anxious for an end result or the end of a situation, I acknowledge my desire, take a deep breath, let it go and I "be".  In doing so, I have allowed myself to enjoy the process so much more - realizing things that I would have otherwise missed.

I know this is easier said than done at times... especially, as I said, when the result we desire is an end to difficulty or discomfort.  But being patient in such times and allowing ourselves to truly "be" with our difficult situations is what not only helps us to grow as people, but also enables us to appreciate the good times.  Think about it... if there were no "bad" times, would we truly appreciate the "good" times.  This universal duality is the natural order of things.

Shifting the mind to adopt an attitude of patience may not be easy; certainly, we must work at it.  A regular yoga practice can help us to do so - I am proof positive of this!

Here's to being patient... and enjoying the moment,
