Greetings!
Hep C Connection is pleased to announce our first e-newsletter. Going electronic gives us the opportunity to provide up-to-date information and notify you of important events such as community dinners, fundraisers, and continuing education opportunities. By going electronic, we will be able to curb the escalating costs associated with printing and postage while also going green for the environment. Please feel free to give us any feedback or suggestions on what you would like to see in future editions of the newsletter. We can be reached via email at info@hepc-connection.org.

| Kevin Fitzgerald Comedy Night! |
Yuk! Yuk! Yuk! Kevin Fitzgerald comedy night for Hep C Connection
Dr. Kevin Fitzgerald, popular local veterinarian with Alameda East Veterinary Hospital, Animal Planet star on Emergency Vets, and stand-up comic, will headline a comedy benefit for Hep C Connection titled Yuk! Yuk! Yuk! on Wednesday, March 26. Yuk! Yuk! Yuk! will be held at Jazz @ Jack's, a creative venue in the Denver Pavilions on the 16th Street Mall in downtown Denver. Tickets are $25 each and include one complimentary beverage. Doors open at 6:00 P.M. and Kevin takes the stage at 7:00 P.M. Dr. Fitzgerald is donating his talent and Jazz @ Jack's is donating the space. Tickets may be purchased by calling or emailing Todd Haggerty, 720-917-3963, thaggerty@hepc-connection.org. This event is co-chaired by Michael and Jennifer Hofmann.
Dr. Fitzgerald is no stranger to TV or radio. He had a weekly radio spot, "Veterinary Corner," on Lewis and Floorwax's popular morning show for four years. Since 2003 he has hosted a weekly television segment, "Animal House" on Denver's Channel 2 morning news, and since 1997 he has been one of the featured veterinarians on Animal Planet's Emergency Vets. In addition to his veterinary work, Kevin performs frequently in the metro-Denver area and thinks none of us laugh enough. |

| GlobeImmune Announces Initiation of Phase 2 Clinical Trial of GI-5005 in Patients with Chronic Hepatitis C
LOUISVILLE, CO, December 19, 2007 - GlobeImmune, Inc. announced today the initiation of the Company's Phase 2 clinical trial to evaluate GI-5005 Tarmogen® for the treatment of patients with chronic hepatitis C infection. GI-5005 is being evaluated as a potential therapy in combination with standard of care, pegylated interferon plus ribavirin.
The Phase 2 clinical trial is a randomized, open-label, multi-arm, multi-center trial evaluating GI-5005 in combination with full duration standard of care, versus standard of care alone in patients with chronic genotype 1 hepatitis C infection who are either treatment-naïve or non-responders to previous therapy. Endpoints will include improvement in alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels, early virologic response (EVR), end of treatment response (ETR), sustained virologic response (SVR), serum markers of liver fibrosis / necrosis and liver biopsy in a subset of patients. This study is designed to enroll 120 patients randomized 1:1 in the 2 arms at approximately 50 centers in the U.S., India and Europe. A majority of the centers will be based in the U.S. Read the full article. |

| Volunteer Update |
Volunteers Wanted!
Hep C Connection is looking for a good group of people to represent us at upcoming health fairs. This is a great chance for you to use your experience and/or knowledge to help others in our community. Many volunteers enjoy staffing health fairs because the environment is dynamic and energized and because in just a short period of time you can help spread the word about hepatitis C to hundreds (sometimes thousands) of people. Plus you get free admission to the health fair. You can sign-up for as many - or as few -as you would like. The goal is to have enough volunteers at each fair so that we can break the time requirement into shifts.

| Survey Results |
|
You may have seen a recent email from Hep C Connection requesting participation in an online demographic survey. We had a very positive response to the survey and wanted to thank everybody who participated. The time you took out of your busy schedules to complete the survey is invaluable to us and we greatly appreciate it. Your input will help Hep C Connection continue to serve people in the best way possible. Of the people that completed the survey:
v 65% were female
v 30% were ages 50-54 (followed closely by 24% ages 50-59 and 20% ages 40-44)
v 90% identified their ethnicity as Caucasian
v 40% were in the state of Colorado
Responses from individuals regarding why they are involved with Hep C Connection or receive our email updates and newsletters varied widely. The majority of responses were from individuals that are infected or know somebody infected with hepatitis C. Other responses were from individuals that work with people that are infected with hepatitis C. Very helpful suggestions were made about adding more educational information to the website and keeping the website current with the most up-to-date medical and treatment information available. We hope to use this information to continue to meet the needs of individuals throughout the country and always welcome your suggestions by calling us (800-390-1202) or emailing us (info@hepc-connection.org).

Thank you very much for reading our inaugural e-newsletter. Hep C Connection is also moving into other new media, including a page in FaceBook and on My Space. These new opportunities were identified in our 2008 - 2010 strategic plan and will augment our educational programs by appealing to people who have risk factors and like interacting in social network environments. Please contact Todd or me if you have suggestions for other ways to educate the general public about hepatitis C. We appreciate your feedback. Sincerely,
Nancy Steinfurth
