WARNING!

Working with HealingLeaders may be hazardous to your status quo! The ideas contained within have been known to cause irreversible change in some leaders.

Welcome to the conspiracy we call HealingLeaders. Be prepared to have your thinking about leadership changed forever. This new and innovative resource for leaders is the result of a close friendship that now spans two decades.

During the early years of our friendship, we began to notice a rare collegiality that comes from caring about the same things.  We found we were asking a similar question: "What is most needed in our world at this time?" The flip side of the coin was another question; "What do I most have to give to the world during my short time on this rock?" We found ourselves gathering more and more often around these questions.  We soon realized we were working on a grand and intricate jigsaw puzzle; one that we eventually could not leave alone. Each encounter left us more energized and hopeful. We discovered that each of us had crucial pieces to the puzzle. We began to wonder if there was a way of working that would combine our gifts and perspectives into something meaningful and important to offer others.

Finally, after a year of collaborating daily, we have brought all of the pieces together and have created a powerful new way of supporting leaders who are passionate about their work in the world. Our expedition has led us to new and unexpected vistas. Through HealingLeaders, we now offer our journey and its uncommon insights to you. Don't say we didn't warn you!

StevePic"Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step."

Several years ago I had what native peoples call a "sacred dream." I dreamed I was standing in a field of wheat, chest high, golden and ripe for the harvest. I ran my hand ever so lightly across the tops of the swollen heads of grain. The kernels of each stalk cascaded to the ground in a thundering rain-storm of abundance.

For the longest time, I thought the dream was telling me I was going to be rich. But that hasn't happened (yet). I now know that I was being put on notice by life. It was harvest time. I had planted many seeds. More than a few of them were wild oats. I had gone through many years of formal education. I had attended countless seminars. I had read thousands of books. I had learned from many mentors. It was now time to move on to another season in my life. This was not the time for planting. This was not the time for patient waiting. This was the time in my life where I can finally trust, I could take my first steps of faith believing that I have something to give, something to give back in gratitude for my own life.

My work with Howard through HealingLeaders represents an important step for me in my life right now. It is the culmination of a 30 year "vision quest" in seeking my mission in life. I am excited by the opportunities ahead. It is a privilege to explore with my fellow travelers who dare to follow their own vision and then invite others to join them in the journey.

The dream that came in my sleep that night awakened me. It's harvest time!

"He who travels far will often see things far removed from what he believed was Truth."

People tell me I'm lucky.  I have been able to find a way to do work with my friend.

Steve and I met about ten years ago.  We formed an instant and rewarding relationship.  Five years ago we began to explore ideas on how to work with each other.  Last year we found the way to do it.  Lucky isn't the word.

Our conversations were first about ourselves, then each other, then of the world we were seeing both separately and together. We began to share the same insights and different insights; the same experiences and different experiences; the same hopes and different hopes.  A common thread of understanding and mutual support emerged.  We began to think and talk about how we might work together to make some kind of difference.

An important moment for me in all this was when I read a book recommended by Steve (he has recommended so many to me!).  It is Ishmael.  Daniel Quinn challenges the world to change itself - not slowly and surely - but dramatically and now!  He urges us to become awake the dangers the earth faces now!  Quinn cannot be ignored.  Steve and I talked about Quinn a lot.  We agreed that the traditional institutions of the world - church, government and educational systems - have had their chances to make change and have failed.  We explored the one remaining institution where change must occur rapidly and dramatically - business - by and through its leaders.  This was the idea that drew us to the discovery that we would become explorers together.

Steve's insights into human behavior and mine into organizational behavior created a synergy.  We had seen, experienced, counseled and advised people and businesses who had succumbed to the deforming influence of toxicity.  We both agreed on a mission to offer the concept of the forming influence of engaged, authentic and rational leadership - Healing Leadership!

And so, we extend this invitation to those adventurers compelled to transform themselves and, by influence, others in their organizations.  Join us on the this journey of healing and expect the unexpected.
