Planning for Swine Flu
The experts are telling us that by the end of August this year there could be as many as 100,000 new cases of swine flu every day.
It seems inevitable that, if this figure is accurate, Swine Flu will have a significant impact on staffing of all businesses and in particular community pharmacy. The population are being advised to self medicate with paracetamol, aspirin or ibuprofen and take to their beds. This advice will put them in direct contact with your teams and hence increase the risk of them catching the virus.
PL-UK are developing emergency plans to supply locum pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to community pharmacies to enable them to continue to provide a service which will be even more important than normal during an acceleration in Swine Flu cases.
