Listen to Your Heart

When it comes to the decisions that matter most, we are raised to "listen to our hearts." Yet when it comes to the matter of our heart's health, we can be a little hard of hearing.

Heart disease is by far the leading cause of death for women. In fact, heart disease exceeds the next five leading causes of death combined. It's time to listen to your heart like never before. Unlike men, who are more likely to suffer a heart attack without any previous symptoms, our hearts often send signals in advance.

The early cries for help can be very different for women and can include:
  • Indigestion/Heartburn
  • Extreme Fatigue
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness
  • Shortness of Breath
  • Lightheadedness
  • Profuse Sweating
  • Trouble Sleeping
If you have one or more of these symptoms, discuss them with your health care provider. If you don't have a physician, find one with our online Physician Finder.

St. Francis also offers complete cardiac care including a 24/7 Chest Pain Center, Cardiac CT, 3D cardiac imaging and cardiac care unit.
