Many of you have asked how Cabela's has affected our business. Well, we are excited for our community and this region as well to have such a great tourist attraction here. They are a very good company and if they draw adittional people to our area that will be good for us all.
According to the NSSF, facilities like ours see an increase in business of approximately 15% when Cabela's comes to town. Only time will tell for us. I can say that their grand opening weekend was the busiest weekend we have had in months. All in all we are glad they are here. Remember if you have family and friends visit with the intent of going there...bring them by here to shoot.
Enjoy and Be Safe.....
Your CTS Family.

Ultrasonic Cleaning Available
You asked for it...We did it. By popular demand we have added Ultrasonic handgun cleaning to the many services offered at CTS.
Ultrasonic cleaning combines the sciences of engineering and chemistry working together to provide unsurpassed cleaning.
Ultrasonic cleaning occurs when ultra-high frequency sound waves are passed through a cleaning solution, creating cavitation. Cavitation is the implosion of microscopic bubbles collapsing into themselves. This creates a high-energy vacuum effect which safely pulls debris, foreign particles and contaminants from the surfaces being cleaned. With ultrasonic cleaning, both the exterior and interior surfaces, including crevices, are thoroughly cleaned. Aggressive action occurs wherever the solution reaches leaving virtually no possibility for hidden contaminants to remain.
Ultrasonic cleaners are available in many forms. We purchased a system designed specifically for firearms. Our system uses Bio-degradable cleaners and solutions.
I cleaned my personal Glock 35 that had over 2600 rounds fired without cleaning (it was an experiment) and I was amazed at the level of cleaning inside and outside my firearm.
Take advantage of this superior deep cleaning system the next time you are in to see us. In many cases you could drop 1 handgun off for cleaning prior to going in to shoot anotherand by the time you are finished shooting your handgun will be thoroughly cleaned, inspected, and lubricated.
Oh, don't forget to get the mags cleaned!
Call for prices or just stop by to see us.

Meet Jack McElroy
Over the next few issues we would like to introduce you to members of our staff. Customer service and a family atmosphere are major goals for us here. We want to provide some insight into our CTS family by highlighting our staff.
In an effort to be fair we decided to use duration of employment to establish the order. Jack has been with us since we were in the construction stages, so guess who's first.
For over 40 years Jack has been actively involved in competitive marksmanship as a competitor, instructor and referee. Recently he has expanded his horizons by facilitating our GSSF and Bullseye competitions. He has even filled in for me on a number of occasions teaching the High School Life Sports students.
From 1960 through the late 1980s, he participated in competitive "National Match", three-gun-aggregate pistol events. In 1983, and again in 1988, he was a competitor at the National Matches held in Camp Perry Ohio and also attended the US Army Small Arms firing School. Jack achieved and maintained Expert classification in Outdoor Pistol.
Beginning in the mid 1980s and through the 1990s, Jack was a certified NRA Instructor in four disciplines: Pistol; Rifle; Shotgun and "Voluntary Practical Firearms". One of his passions over the years has been and continues to be Skeet Shooting. You can often find him breaking clay targets at the CDA skeet club in Hayden. For 8 years during the 1990s he held a Certified Skeet Referee credential and officiated competitive club and State Championship Skeet shooting events in the Kansas City, Ft. Leavenworth and Topeka area.
Currently, Jack states that Skeet and pistol shooting are his hobbies. I know he also loves talking on his HAM radio and is active in the local HAM club. As for his passions, well we definitely listed a few here. However, there is no question as to his true passion if you have ever seen him with his "bride" Patti.
Take a moment to stop buy and introduce yourself to Jack. He is a wealth of knowledge and he is willing to help whenever he can. We are proud to have him as part of our family.

Gripmaster Frenzy
If you are one of my students the term Dynamic Grip is not an unfamiliar term. When I attended the Outdoor Trade Show in Salt Lake this year I found a product that excited me. Although marketed towards rock climbers at that show, I saw an immediate connection to shooters in general and specifically my students..
I decided to offer them at the store and without any endorcement from me we have had to resupply twice. Thank you for supporting a new product and I hope they are really helping with your grip and trigger manipulation.
These devices are unique from other grip trainers as they allow individual finger manipulation. This allows the user to work on trigger finger strength, trigger finger issolation, overall grip strength, or any number of specific grip issues. They are available in various degrees of resistance so as your needs change there is a model for you.
I am not into a lot of gimmicks, but this is a tool that works.

Monthly Training Tip
Dry Fire... Dry Fire.... Dry Fire
As you have heard me say many times, Smooth Trigger Press is critical to accurate consistent shooting. Regardless if you are shooting a bullseye match, IDPA, or just practicing your defensive shooting skills, Trigger Press is critical.
It has been proven that weapon handling skills degrade by 20% in only one week if you are inactive. Dry fire practice is crucial to improving and maintaining live fire skills. In dry-fire, you essentially do everything except experience the bang and the cycling of the action. By not having to deal with recoil management or noise issues, you will be able to concentrate on proper equipment manipulation and trigger control. And it is FREE!
The key to effective practice is to perform the fundamentals perfectly. Trigger control, sight alignment, sight picture, grip and posture can all be practiced during dry-fire but it must be done correctly. Aim at a very small target. My DF target is about a 1/4" circle. The small target magnifies any poor follow through, trigger control or other poor techniques. Call every shot, you must know if you pulled the shot or jerked the trigger. The old adage "Only perfect practice makes perfect" should be followed.
How Often To Practice Dry Fire:
I believe you should dry-fire 5 times as much as you live fire. Keep the sessions to under 15 minutes. Two or three sessions per week will result in noticeable improvement in fairly short order. It's not productive to practice for long periods because people tend to get sloppy which does nothing but build bad habits. It's better to do 15 minutes three times a week than one 45 minute session once per week.
Some Dry Fire Safety Considerations:
- Clear your gun - Remove all ammo from training area.
- Place target in a safe direction to minimize potential for injury if a negligent discharge occurs.
- Visually and manually inspect guns, magazines and training rounds to ensure no live rounds are present.
- Repeat Step 3.
- Do not allow yourself to be disturbed. If you are, stop the session and deal with it. Do "condition check" upon your return.
- When you have completed the practice session... NO MORE PRACTICE FOR THE SESSION. REMOVE YOURSELF FROM THE PRACTICE AREA BEFORE YOU LOAD YOUR FIREARM. Never make your gun hot in the DF practice area...NEVER!

Refuse To Be A Victim
Peggy continues to teach RTBAV on a quarterly basis. As many of you know, 100% of the proceeds go to the OASIS Woman's Shelter at the Post Falls Police Department. Because of the ever growing popularity of this course and your support, we have donated in excess of $2,000 to OASIS.
Her next class will be Dec 28 from 1- 5 pm. This date was chosen because of the number of requests to offer the class when parents and vacationing college age students would be home and they could all attend together.
The course is designed to offer men and women a variety of options from which they can choose to prepare their own crime prevention and personal safety strategy. Topics include, home, automobile, physical, internet, travel, and general personal safety.
There will be a special section on high school and college campus safety to better protect our student members of the class.
Mark your calendars...This is a must attend class. The OASIS program thanks you.

UTAH CCW Going Strong
Our Utah CCW courses have been an overwhelming success. Enrollment has been great during the summer months and now that the outside temps are dropping, our overall course enrollments are rising.
Utah CCW is no exception. If you are interested in carrying concealed in 32 States then make sure you register early to ensure you get the date you want.
Although, UTAH does not have a shooting qualification, I do require all my students in any CCW course we offer to qualify. The reason is simple. We want to provide a balance of instruction that equally addresses the criminal as well as civil aspects of carrying a concealed handgun.
If you ever have to use Lethal Force, you will experience a criminal investigation and you can count on a challenge in the civil court. This civil challenge will come regardless of the outcome of the criminal process.
My goal is to start your civil defense the very day you start your training in my programs. We do this in a number of ways...and yes, the qualification course of fire is one of our methods.
Don't wait, sign up today for the Utah CCW course...
They are going fast :-)!
