The holiday spirit is always apparent everywhere this month. But Birmingham's spirit of hope, anticipation, giving, and sharing has actually been evident for months, ever since multiple tornadoes devastated the state. The time, resources, and financial contributions of those throughout the state (and country) are beginning to heal the wounds still apparent in many of our communities. We hope that this season of giving will continue to benefit those who need it the most.
The church and lighthouse at Children's Harbor in Alexander City were spared just yards from total devastation that extended for miles. So it seemed to be a fitting illustration this month of recovery and grace, and as a beacon of hope. In the spirit of the holidays, Merry Christmas to you and yours!
