Two Rhinos and Some Folded Laundry

Do you have memories of Redmont Gardens?  We'd love to hear them!  Please email us!  Thanks!

For us, it all started with two rhinos and some folded laundry on the steps of this historic Birmingham building.  I first met Bob on the stairwell just inside this doorway.  He was carrying two cumbersome 3' leather rhinosauruses, one under each arm, and I was carrying neatly folded laundry.  In retrospect, after 30 years, that image still defines our partnership - him, always thinking outside the box, great sense of humor, and artistic confidence - me, constantly organizing and categorizing!  We hope that we can now use these skills to showcase in watercolor all that is special about Birmingham, month by month.

We chose to start with Redmont Gardens because it's special to us.  However, it has probably witnessed  hundreds of such love stories and partnerships in its 70-plus years.  A place for both the young and the old, it's on the fringes of  Mountain Brook surrounded by beautiful residential homes and within steps of coffee shops and restaurants in English Village.  On the National Register of Historic Places, it was built in 1938 and has remained virtually unchanged since that time.  Hardwood floors, steam heat and radiators, huge trunks of wisteria vines, and majestic trees reveal its age, but also preserve its charm.

Do you have a story about Redmont Gardens?  We'd love to hear it!  Read about our plans on our blogWhat would you like for Bob to paint?  Let us know!

(We are working on a new website and soon hope to be able to offer free downloadable images of each monthly Bob Moody watercolor.  Stay tuned!)
