Join us for Pampering the Parents Night on May 27th from 6:30-8:30pm
Are you a parent or caregiver of a child who has special needs? If so, we have a special night planned for you. Sweeten Life, through the Village Initiative With Parents, is hosting a night of relaxation, information and support for you. Come enjoy a nice dinner and listen to Dr. Sweeten share his unique insights on practical ways to handle to stress. Our goal is for you to leave feeling refreshed, encouraged and better able to deal with difficulties in life.
Pampering the Parents coincides with the Breathe Respite so the kids can be taken care of while you get nurtured and refreshed. Breathe is an established ongoing outreach of Vineyard Cincinnati. Separate registration for childcare is required and is limited. Go to www.vineyardcincinnati.com/breathe to register for the Breathe respite childcare.

Sharing with Professionals
Gary Sweeten taught at two workshops for the Christian Affiliation of Special Educators at the Hyatt Regency on March 23rd. He shared about the It Takes a Whole Village project and how the results of that research relate to educators. He talked about the isolation, additional stress and lack of spiritual and emotional support that so many parents experience. He also encouraged the educators in their role of connecting parents to resources within the school, church and community.
Jim Donovan, SLS Director of Research, shared at the Regional Help Me Grow conference. Help Me Grow is a state agency that provides in home support and education, during the first three years, to families whose child has been diagnosed with a disability. Jim shared what our research revealed about the importance of spending time with the parents and gave tips on how the case workers can have an even greater impact.
