First Friday Events
Abode
5-9p.m.
This Friday Abode is featuring hand-made picture frames crafted by
Julie Sterchi. When Julie was pregnant with her third child she
became tired of framing pictures of her kids in standard store-bought
frames. As a remedy she began painting and distressing frames that fit
her style. It didn't take long before people started recognizing her
talent and the orders started coming in. At first it was family and
friends and the frames were given as gifts. Now news has spread of
Julie's frames and she's making them available to the Knoxville public.
Her most popular styles are her shadow-box style striped frames and
antique barn wood frames. Stop by Abode, meet Julie, and check out her
art. As always, the wine is on the house and the home-goods and
furniture are on you. Art Market Gallery5:30-9p.m.

single most powerful element that unites this body of work is the
transformative nature of light. Many of these subjects, if observed in broad
daylight, would be most mundane, but if
you wait for the light to change, they are transformed into the curious, the
mystical, the inexplicable. Clothed in new light, they invite us to re-examine
our eye's presumptions, and perhaps see a beauty or mystery we would have
otherwise missed." Lensandlight.smugmug.com Downtown Wine + Spirits15% off Belgium Beer 10% off Wine Jameson Irish whiskey 750's - $19.99 Benchmark Bourbon 750's - $9.99 Maximo Tempranillo - $8.99 Terra Cotta 3L Cabernet Box - $16.99 Printhie Chardonnay - $9.99 East Tennessee History Center

spirit of musical expression. In the process, he has performed and
recorded with artists from every corner of the musical universe and
entertainment world: Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Ray Brown, Dizzy
Gillespie, Sonny Rollins, Clark Terry, Quincy Jones, Ernest Ranglin,
Barbara Hendricks, Bill Cosby, Bobby McFerrin, Sly Dunbar, and Robbie
Shakespeare, among others.

Athletic bodies and contemporary costumes meet explosive Taiko drumming
and innovative choreography in this show. With hundreds of sold-out
shows and more than a million spectators, TAO
has proven that modern entertainment based on the traditional art of
Japanese drumming, has massive international appeal. The stars of TAO
live and train at a compound in the mountains of Japan, reaching the

vibrantly modern take on a traditional art form.
