First Friday Events

Abode
5-9p.m.

This Friday Abode is featuring hand-made picture frames crafted by Julie Sterchi.  When Julie was pregnant with her third child she became tired of framing pictures of her kids in standard store-bought frames.  As a remedy she began painting and distressing frames that fit her style.  It didn't take long before people started recognizing her talent and the orders started coming in.  At first it was family and friends and the frames were given as gifts.  Now news has spread of Julie's frames and she's making them available to the Knoxville public.  Her most popular styles are her shadow-box style striped frames and antique barn wood frames.  Stop by Abode, meet Julie, and check out her art.  As always, the wine is on the house and the home-goods and furniture are on you.

Many of these subjects, if observed in broad daylight, would be most mundane,  but if you wait for the light to change, they are transformed into the curious, the mystical, the inexplicable. Clothed in new light, they invite us to re-examine our eye's presumptions, and perhaps see a beauty or mystery we would have otherwise missed." Lensandlight.smugmug.com
