Chamber Employer Health Plan Marks 10,000-Person Milestone with Enrollment of Elite Treating Solutions

Lubbock Chamber of Commerce officials this week announced an important milestone in the award-winning Chamber Employer Health Plan with the enrollment of Elite Treating Solutions, whose participation pushed the number of total persons enrolled in the plan to exactly 10,000.  Elite Treating Solutions was enrolled by agent Shawn Laquey of Sanford & Tatum Insurance Agency.

"This award-winning and unique collaboration between the Chamber, FirstCare Health Plans, Covenant Health System and UMC has, for 21 months, allowed Lubbock employers of all sizes to benefit from the increased buying power and pooled risk while helping to decrease the number of uninsured," said Gary Gregory, 2008 Lubbock Chamber of Commerce Chairman.  "The Chamber is proud to be able to provide this member benefit to small businesses like Elite Treating Solutions and even larger businesses that have enrolled." Gregory also noted that roughly 20 percent of those enrolled in the Plan were previously without major medical coverage.

"The success of the plan is largely due to the partnership and collaboration of entities," said Gregory, noting that recently Chamber officials have been asked to describe the plan and its success before committees of the Texas Legislature.

According to Lubbock Chamber of Commerce officials, participants in the Plan now represent the second-largest non-government insured group in Lubbock.
