Here at SURFSIDE, we fared considerably well, even with storm surge waves crashing over the sea wall right in front of us! At 17 feet above sea level, our residents were not evacuated, and there was no flooding.
With underground utilities and quality of construction, we were kept safe from damage, and have had continuous power. Sadly, other cities were not as fortunate, and many of our part-time residents have come to stay until power can be restored in those communities.

"We weathered Irene at Surfside. The ferocious waves were amazing. But more amazing was that we suffered no damaging effects from the storm and never lost power. We felt totally secure at Surfside. With all the media attention it seemed like Surfside was the focal point for an almost party atmosphere during the aftermath of the storm. We are so happy to be here.
