Please join us in worship during June
Greetings!
During the month of June there will be no KidVenture programs on Sunday mornings for Kindergarten through 5th Grades. KidVenture Nursery care, for infants through Preschoolers will be available. We encourage all children older than the age of three to attend worship. Watch for upcoming information that will be helpful in preparing your child and you for worshiping together.
Current research has shown that children engaged in a faith community which includes intergenerational worship have a greater chance of being engaged in a faith community as young adults. Children who witness their parents pray are more likely to pray. Similarly, children who witness their parents worship are more likely to engage in worship. "No one has more potential to influence your child than you." (Reggie Joiner, Parenting Beyond Your Capacity).
On average, kids engaged in KidVenture programming will spend about 40 hours per year in those programs. These programs are important to deepen children's knowledge of scripture and faith, similar to Bible studies and small groups for adults. In contrast, children will spend about 3000 hours with their parents. Do not underestimate your capacity to influence your child's developing faith. The best way to learn about worship is to experience it. So, we are asking you to partner with us in taking this next step in building your child's faith.
We acknowledge that this may not be easy and may be out of your comfort zone. However, we believe that long-term this will benefit your family as well as our Calvary family. We want to be in partnership with you in guiding your child on his or her spiritual journey. Please let us know if you have any questions or would like to talk further with us. Upcoming KidVenture Events:
- KIDVENTURE FAMILY POTLUCK: Today! Wednesday, May 16 at 6:30 pm. Hotdogs, buns, lemonade, and table service will be provided.
- KIDVENTURE LEADER APPRECIATION BRUNCH: This Sunday, May 20 from 9:45-10:45 am. Please sign-up to help with food* and/or serving. *We are still in need of a great deal of items!
- KIDVENTURE NEEDS SUMMER VOLUNTEERS: Please consider helping with KidVenture during the summer in order to allow our regular leaders a much-deserved break. All curriculum and materials are provided. Please find 2 or 3 Sundays during July and August that you can serve. Sign-up begins this Sunday, May 20.
- CHILD PROTECTION TRAINING: Anyone who works with children and youth at Calvary (includes all VBS volunteers!) must take this training and be refreshed every 5 years. Learn more about our protection policy.
