KidVenture Connection

Greetings!

What a blessing it was to see everyone this past Sunday as we kicked off our Fall programming. It was so exciting to witness the power of God at work in the hearts of the kids and our leaders throughout the building!

Thank you for taking the time to register your children. If you have not yet registered, information and forms are available here. Your registration allows us to better prepare for the year ahead. For your child's safety and your peace of mind we ask that you continue to check your children into their programs each week at the beginning of each hour. 9 am check-in takes place in your child's classroom, while 10:30 am check-in takes place at the KidVenture check-in station located outside of the Worship Center. All check-out takes place in your child's classroom. Room assignments Fourth and fifth graders should be signed in, but do not need a security bracelet or to be signed out.

In our newsletter this week you will find information about our upcoming Wednesday night programs as well as information about what your children learned this past Sunday.

Wednesday Night Activities Begin
September 7!

KidVenture Wednesday Programs
All Wednesday night KidVenture programs will resume, following Labor Day, on Wednesday, September 7. Below is a list of the activities and their respective times and locations:

Preschool - Room L3 - 6:30-7:30 pm
Grades K-3 - Room L2/L4 - 6:30-7:30 pm
Grades 4-5 - Room L6 - 6:30-7:30 pm

Children's Choir
All children in grades Kindergarten through Fifth Grade are invited to participate in our Children's Choir this year. This choir will have many opportunities to share their music in worship throughout the year, including several already planned for this Fall.

Grades K-5 - Room L7 - 6-6:30 pm

Connecting with Our World!

This week our Grapple students (4th & 5th Graders) learned about the child that KidVenture sponsors through Compassion International. His name is Tadcha Supawan and he lives in Northeastern Thailand. Moneys that are collected in our weekly KidVenture Offering go directly to support Tadcha. Recently, Tadcha sent us a letter and the Grapple students had the opportunity to hear about his life and respond with letters of their own. We are certain that Tadcha will be happy to hear from the students here at Calvary! Thank you for your continued support of Tadcha!

Preschool Connection

This week our Preschoolers studied the story of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-24) and their lesson centered around the theme of hugs. Ask them something they learned about hugs this week.

Remember Verse:

I can do all things through Christ, because He gives me strength - Phillipians 4:13 (ask your child to share some of their motions they learned to help them learn this verse!)

Even though you're small, you can do BIG things with God's help!
You can show BIG love by what you say and do!

Kindergarten-Third Grade Connection

Children in grades K-3 learned about making wise choices this week. They heard about Adam and Eve and Eve's bad choice after the serpent told her not to listen to God
(Genesis 3:1-24).

Every day, each of us makes choices - choices to obey God or not to obey God. Only you can make that choice for yourself! If you want to be a WORLD CHANGER you will need to learn how to choose wisely.

Memory Max Verse:
Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it - James 4:17 (ask your child to share their Memory Max verse with you. If they forgot it, say, "remember" and then place the palm of your hand on your forehead and then say, "Oh yeah." ...see what happens next!)

Compass Point:
Don't forget to remember! (Sharing the Compass Point with your child is an easy way to help them apply what they've learned in KidVenture to their daily life.)

Fourth-Fifth Grade Connection

On Sunday, Grapple Logo

our Fourth and Fifth Graders were introduced to a new program called Grapple. Grapple tackles the tough questions your preteen students are asking about their relationships with God, others and themselves. It digs into the real-life issues they are dealing with every day - and shares what the Bible has to say about them.

In class they learned about a website called MyGrapple which they will have an opportunity to interact with throughout the year. Parental consent is required for students to participate in the online MyGrapple community. If your child turned in a signed permission form, he or she should have received their login information. If they have not, please tell them to inform one of their leaders this week in class. If they have received their login, please take a moment to sit with them and have them log onto the site and take a look around. If they have trouble logging on, please contact kidventure@connectwithcalvary.org.

Actual Grapple lessons begin this week. Be sure to ask your child all about what they "Grappled" with after class on Sunday!

KidVenture Nursery

The KidVenture Nursery offers families the option of childcare while parents attend worship, attend Sunday School, teach or serve the Calvary family on Sunday mornings.

KidVenture Nursery is available throughout all worship hours on Sunday mornings and is located in Calvary's Main Level Education Wing in Rooms 107 and 109. Room assignments are determined by your child's age as of September 1, 2011 and are posted outside the door for each worship hour.
