THIS PAST SUNDAY:

Your children learned about God's fruit of GOODNESS

THEME: Goodness
LEARN IT: In order to grow God's fruit of GOODNESS, you've got to have good, healthy roots. The Bible says to protect your heart for it is the wellspring of life. What that means is, we need to be selective about the things we allow in our life. If we take in a lot of garbage, the roots of God's fruit can't grow. No roots, no fruit!
BIBLE STORY:
"Jesus heals on the Sabbath" from Luke 6
LINK IT: The world we live in is like a huge dump heap. There is more garbage in the world than there is good. That's why it is easier to fill our lives with junk than it is with GOODNESS. What my eyes see, lands in my heart.
LIVE IT: Philippians 4 says, "Whatever is good...think about these things." The Bible instructs us to avoid following the pattern of this world. Filling our life with God's GOODNESS means we have a daily diet of his word and prayer in our life. It also means we don't bury ourselves in the garbage that surrounds us.
COMPASS POINT: "You've got to DO what is GOOD for YOU."
MEMORY MAX:
Proverbs 4:23, "Above all, guard your heart, for it affects everything you do."
PRAYER: God, thank you for your goodness to us. We want to be people who show goodness to others. We ask the Holy Spirit to work in our hearts and help us become people who show goodness wherever we are and whatever we are doing. Show us the things we can do to fill our hearts and minds with goodness, and teach us to stay away from the things that fill our minds with garbage. Help us to remember to do the things we have committed to do this week. In Jesus' name, Amen

2011 VBS Logo

  KidVenture Ministries Thanks You!
VBS 2011 was a huge success! With your help we were able to share the love of Jesus Christ with 249 children. We cannot thank you, our volunteers, enough for the dedication, love and endless creativity you give to this outreach ministry annually. We could never make this happen without GOOD FRUIT like you!

What does it take to successfully offer Vacation Bible School to 249 children?
  • 2 Dedicated Directors (Heather Plattner and Susan Hoss) planning since last year's VBS
  • 20 Coordinators preparing since January
  • 35 adults and children setting-up the entire church the Sunday evening before Kick-off
  • 130 volunteers during the week of VBS serving as crew leaders, snack helpers, Bible story tellers, craft leaders, games coaches, registration assistants, nurses, nursery care-givers, tech crew, and music leaders
  • 40 volunteers over 4 nights building 10 benches and 8 picnic tables in the garage
  • 1 Boy Scout Troop serving the meal on Monday to over 400 people
  • Lots and lots of prayers and listening for God's direction!
As you can see, this is no small undertaking, but the rewards are great! Witnessing the seeds of God's abundant love grow in the hearts of these children is awesome to behold! If you see any of our wonderful volunteers in the coming weeks, please take a moment to thank them.

At the closing worship service on Thursday night we shared a video culminating the week's activities. We thought you might want to have a second look!

VBS 2011 Connects with The Salvation Army

Our VBS outreach project this year was the Salvation Army. We learned how the Salvation Army uses donated resources to provide for those in need in our community. During the week families donated over $430 and many boxes of canned and paper goods which will help our local Salvation Army and continue to grow good fruit in our community.
