Greetings!
This past Sunday was one of celebration at Calvary as 32 eighth graders were confirmed and received into membership. Confirmation Sunday is always a high point in the life of the church as it celebrates the culmination of ongoing nurture, spiritual growth, and a year of guided studies.
We began Sunday morning with unexpected excitement during our 8 am worship service! A loss of pressure in one our water lines caused the fire alarm system to activate. Larry Gamblin, Director of Building & Grounds, responded quickly and professionally to accurately assess the situation. At no time was the congregation in danger and by the end of our 9:30 am service we were back to our regular Sunday morning environment.
At our 11 am service the Calvary family witnessed the confirmation ceremony as students knelt while pastors, parents and mentors surrounded each for the personal pronouncement of affirmation. These confirmands are more than just new members of Calvary - they are our future. This was demonstrated when our Administrative Board Chair Dale Hall passed the torch to Giles Roll, a member of our confirmation class. Perhaps one day Giles will be passing the torch to another class of confirmands.
Pastor Lori, Michael and I have felt great pride with how these young people have grown and developed this past year. It was a pleasure to work with them as they were thoughtful and inquisitive throughout our weekly sessions. We are blessed as a church to be part of the cultivation of these young Christians. We are thankful to God for this and every opportunity to help make disciples for Jesus Christ. Sincerely,
Rev. Dr. Randall K. Perry ( bio) Directing Pastor |
