March 31, 2010
Greetings!
Lori Harvey

Congratulations!  We arrived in Jerusalem on Palm Sunday.  How appropriate for us to be part of the palm parade.  I pray that this Lenten experience encouraged you to walk closer to God, to find opportunities to walk with God's people or to see the created world from a fresh perspective.  Our sermons encouraged us to walk to places that we don't usually walk, to walk beyond our comfort area and to hear scripture with an open heart.  This week, Easter Sunday, we will be reminded that Christ did not stay in the tomb but walk out into our world once again to bring the good news.  Because Christ lives, we have new life.

Continue to turn in your miles!  We have a few people that have been adding the miles up but haven't turned in a total.  Who knows?  We may be able to walk back to Normal or maybe we have enough miles to circle the world.  Can you imagine a world circled in God's love?

Where do we go from here?  Keep walking.  This is a great way to invite a neighbor to walk with you and it may give you an opening to share your faith story.  Tell him/her what a difference Christ has made in your life.  Share how you have joys and struggles but that your faith is the foundation of your strength.

Keep praying.  Walk around Bloomington/Normal and pray for people, for work situations, for those who grieve, for broken relationship, for wisdom and leadership.  Pray for God's presence in our world.

Sincerely,

Where Does the Term "Good Friday" Come From?
The source of our term for the Friday before Easter, "Good Friday," is not clear. It may be a corruption of the English phrase "God's Friday."

Did You Know?

In January 2007, the children's ministry at Calvary announced a new name for their Sunday morning and Wednesday night ministry. The new name, KidVenture, was meant to inspire our children as they experience the adventure of growing up with Jesus! Today, KidVenture Children's Ministry offers many opportunities for kids to experience God's love, compassion and grace.
