Greetings!
For several summers I was on staff as a counselor at East Bay Camp on Lake Bloomington. While I have many fond memories of the campers and our experiences together, the one that stands out is our Dining Hall greeting before each meal. A member of the East Bay staff would stand at the Dining Hall entrance and shout "God is good!" and we would reply "All the time!" In turn they would shout back "All the time!" and we would reply "God is good!" The thought of it bring a smile to my face as I type this article. In recent weeks God has been very good to Calvary. On Monday, February 15, Jan Godbey joined the staff as our new Managing Director and her impact has been immediately felt. Jan brings to the table a wealth of administrative and managerial experience from her years at State Farm and as an entrepreneur. She has the knowledge and background we need at Calvary. I firmly believe God has called her to this church, and thankfully she has answered that call. God is good, all the time! Jan is not all business - in fact her first passion in life is Jesus Christ. The presence of the Holy Spirit on her has been like a jolt of caffeine to the staff! Each encounter and conversation with Jan is a reminder of God's goodness in our own lives. It is a blessing to have such a sister-in-Christ as our Managing Director. All the time, God is good! Great things are happening at Calvary. In the three and a half years I have been on staff, I can honestly say I have never been more excited and hopeful for the future than I am right now. I don't know for sure what the future will bring. Yet I know that by trusting God, being opening to the leading of the Holy Spirit and embracing Jesus Christ in all we do, Calvary can't go wrong. God is good, all the time; all the time, God is good! Next week in our opening article, Pastor Randy will be sharing an exciting opportunity for the congregation that will give you the chance to 1) share your hopes and dreams for Calvary's future and 2) get to know Jan better. It should be an amazing time for the entire Calvary family; I hope you will be able to join us. |

The United Methodist Church is divided into geographical areas called "Conferences" with a bishop being the head of each Conference. When Calvary was founded in 1960, our Conference headquarters were located on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan University where the Minor Myers Welcome Center now stands. |
