Greetings!
Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful....well it was last evening when I was snuggled up in front of it. I sat there counting my blessings for a warm house, loved ones around me, kids coming home from college and Annie (our 12 year old golden retriever) by my side. I was also feeling incredibly humbled by the generosity of the Calvary family. There are currently many families that are struggling with job loss, cut backs, health issues and many uncertainties; people in the community need assistance with rent, utilities, gas money or groceries. Many times people just need someone to listen, care and know that there are those who will pray for them.
There are times when the church can help and other times when we cannot. Yet, over the past weeks I have had calls, emails and folks coming into my office to ask "How can I help?" The very next day a family with young children needs assistance. Another day a family needs help with repairs, many in the Calvary family heard of this need, donations were offered, a check was handed to me this morning and help with the repairs are taken care of. I have received several calls from those who want to help, who can our family help this holiday, what are the needs? As I am typing this article I received a call from a Calvary member saying I want to provide support, but don't know who needs help. What can I do? How can I help? These are all people that want to give an anonymous gift.
I am continually humbled by the generosity, love and support that I see week after week. It is hard for me to communicate how many times, over many years that I am contacted about a need and through the grace and love of this congregation it is taken care of. Talk about random acts of kindness?
This Sunday in worship will be the March to the Manger and the message of LOVE. Gifts that are received will be given to The Baby Fold. Sharing love through financial gifts, groceries, gifts for a family, a hug or a prayer, no matter how large or small, to give is to receive.
John 15:12 "My commandment is this: Love each other as I have loved you." Blessings,
