Greetings!
I often find myself craving the newest technology in mobile phones. Most of my desire is generated from seeing other people using the newest gadgets and devices. Don't get me wrong, I like the phone I have now, it works well and really has everything I need: a full keyboard, Internet, texting, etc. Still though, it is not the newest kid on the block anymore. They are different models with new features, new plans and new colors. To make matters worse, I can't upgrade my phone for another full year and it is killing me (or perhaps killing my wife who is enduring much complaining on my part). I suppose what I really need rather than a new mobile phone is to learn to be satisfied with what I have.
Hebrews 13:5 tells us "Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, 'Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.'" So many times we can get caught up in the desire for things and monetary advancement that we loose focus on what really matters-our relationship with Jesus Christ. Between ups and downs in the economy and the rising price at the pump, God is the only thing that stays constant.
During the coming week I invite you to join me in seeking satisfaction with what we have and rejoicing in the knowledge that God is here and will be forever.
In His Service,
Josh Barnett
