This year's TOBY and Association Awards Banquet presented by Security Forces Incorporated will be held at the Atlanta Biltmore on Feb. 8 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Register by Feb. 3 to avoid the $20 late fee. It is important that you register soon. There will be no on-site registration! See your colleagues recognized for their accomplishments and learn what it takes to manage an award winning building. REGISTER TO ATTEND THE 2012 GREEN REAL ESTATE SUMMIT, PRESENTED BY BOMA-ATLANTA
The 2012 GREEN Real Estate Summit (GRES) will be held at the Georgia Tech Global Learning Center in Atlanta on March 8 and 9.
Members are encouraged to register before March 2 to avoid the late fee. The event will bring together property managers, facility managers, building engineers and members of the allied industry to learn about sustainability. Specifically, the event will focus on sustainable operations and maintenance of existing buildings. This year's summit is not only affordable, but features several different registration options that are convenient to your schedule. Attend one half-day session for as little as $49, or go ahead and bundle both days for only $159. Both days will feature the GREEN Showcase, where vendors will exhibit products and services that can assist in the sustainable operations and maintenance of existing buildings. BOMA-ATLANTA SUSTAINABILITY EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP WITH ABC OF GEORGIA
BOMA-Atlanta has partnered with the Associated Builders and Contractors Georgia Chapter to offer two educational sustainability courses in February. The Certified Sustainability Manager Course provides an overview of the concepts, terms and organizations that are part of corporate, federal and organizational sustainability. The Professional Commercial Energy Manager Course explores energy-saving opportunities in HVAC and refrigeration system upgrades, building envelope improvements and lighting retrofits. 2012 BOMA EXPERIENCE EXCHANGE REPORT
The BOMA Experience Exchange Report (EER) survey is now open for participation online until March 30, 2012.
The EER is the most comprehensive resource for financial performance information on private and public office buildings in the U.S. and Canada. BOMA-Atlanta invites you to join the Government Affairs Committee for the 2012 BOMA Day at the Capitol on Feb. 22 at the Georgia State Capitol Building from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. This annual event allows BOMA-Atlanta members to interact informally with elected officials, capitol staffers and others involved in state politics. The 2011 BOMA Day at the Capitol featured visits from several Georgia legislators, including a visit from Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle. 2012 is shaping up to be a big legislative and election year. This course explores energy-saving opportunities in HVAC and refrigeration system upgrades, building envelope improvements and lighting retrofit.
Green Real Estate Network Breakfast
(February 21) The Green Real Estate Network is for individuals who want to further their knowledge of green and sustainable practices. These breakfasts allow attendees to network with leaders in green and learn more about sustainability in the commercial real estate industry. The topic for this breakfast is Recycling Made Easy: A Closer Look. American Recycling's Atlanta Materials Recovery Facility processes up to 350 tons per day of commercial and residential recyclables for sale to end users. The equipment design allows this facility to handle recyclables in a way that is unique in this region. From the observation room, attendees will learn about the operations at the facility.

Medical Office Building SIG Breakfast
(March 1) The Medical Office Building Managers Shared Interest Group (MOB SIG) is organized to address the specific interests of medical office building managers and engineers. This group meets quarterly for an informal breakfast and networking session followed by a discussion of specific medical office management issues and current industry trends and challenges. The topic for this breakfast is Managing Cleaning & Janitorial Services for Medical Offices.
GREEN Real Estate Summit 2012
(March 8 & 9) The GREEN Real Estate Summit is the only meeting of its kind in the state of Georgia. It brings together commercial real estate owners, property managers, facility managers, building engineers and companies providing green products and services to learn about the benefits of utilizing sustainable practices. Specifically, the event focuses on sustainable operations and maintenance of existing buildings. This event is sure to provide you with endless opportunities to learn more about instituting green practices in your building.
Design, Operation and Maintenance Part I
(March 14) This course provides information property and facility managers need to manage the ongoing operation and maintenance of building systems and to maximize building efficiency and cost-effectiveness. It also provides information on building design and construction, project delivery, construction materials, and HVAC (heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning) systems. Other areas covered in the course include roofing systems, ceilings and floorings, interior walls, and plumbing systems.
Law and Risk Management
(March 21) This course will provide you with a foundation in the basic principles of law and risk management. In addition to covering leasing, the course covers important issues concerning torts, contracts, employer/employee relations, property rights and environmental law. The course describes the risk management process, covering assessment of loss exposures and handling daily risks that property managers encounter. You will learn about the insurance market, different types of insurance policies and the claims adjustment process. This RPA designation course also covers equipment breakdown insurance, which is an area of growing concern for real estate managers.
LEED Green Associate Exam Prep
(March 27) During the one-day class, Charlie Cichetti of Sustainable Investment Group will provide an in-depth overview of recent changes to the Green Associate and LEED AP exam structure and a full day's training that will prepare you to take the Green Associate exam. In addition to this in-person training, attendees will receive access for 60 days of post-class online exam simulators, which will reinforce classroom knowledge. The course fee includes all training materials, access to the online simulators, lunch and refreshments.
Commercial HVAC - Semester 1
(March 29) Designed for building engineers, the Commercial HVAC course provides an opportunity to enhance service skills through hands-on training. This semester covers the properties of thermodynamics, understanding HVAC systems and chilled water systems. A certificate of completion will be issued to show attendance and completion of the required material.
