Registration Now Available for the 2010 Sports Outing
The 2010 BOMA-Atlanta Sports Outing will be held at Chateau Elan in Braselton, Georgia on Oct. 1.
The annual BOMA Sports Outing consistently attracts a
large crowd of building owners, managers and allied members each year. The event
includes a golf tournament, tennis tournament, dinner and awards
ceremony. Throughout the day, participants have an opportunity to
network with others in the commercial real estate industry.
Last year's Sports Outing sold out and there was a waiting list. Be sure to register now for this event by visiting the 2010 Sports Outing web page and downloading the registration form.

Community Service Opportunity
On Aug. 20, BOMA-Atlanta will partner with HomeAid to
organize a construction project to benefit the community again this year. The
project will leverage the unique talents and skills of the membership to serve
the community. This year's project will be a construction project to assist

Register for the Tour of Atlanta Buildings Using E-forms
This year's Tour of Atlanta Buildings will be held Aug. 24 and will feature three buildings selected for their green, sustainable practices.
The theme for this year's tour is Green is Good for Business. To reflect that theme, BOMA-Atlanta is introducing e-forms to its event registration options. Beginning with the registration brochure for the Tour of Atlanta Buildings, registrants can now fill out their form online by clicking the brochure button, filling in the provided fields, and hitting the "submit" button. Registrants will then be guided through the steps of e-mailing their completed form by Adobe Reader.
Those who wish to continue submitting their form by fax or mail can do so by printing the form and following the fax and mail instructions at the bottom of the form.

Georgia Chamber's Election Central Web Page Now Available
The Georgia Chamber recently opened its Election Central web page to help Georgians make informed decisions about candidates for political office.
Visitors to the site will find links to
candidate information, voter resources, and key election dates. The chamber also posted survey results conducted on all candidates running for
state office. Candidates were asked to respond to questions
about key business issues such as transportation, taxation, education and legal
reform.

Georgia Power Requests Base Rate Increase
On July 1, Georgia Power filed a request with
the Georgia Public Service Commission to increase base rates approximately $615
million.
The typical residential bill would increase
by about 10.1 percent, but the average increase for business customers would be
lower.

Atlanta Business Chronicle features BOMA-Atlanta on Sustainability, TOBY Awards.
The Atlanta Business Chronicle (ABC) recently featured BOMA-Atlanta in two articles in the weekly newspaper's commercial real estate section.
In the first article, Michelle Dixon, BOMA-Atlanta president, and Linda Beauchamp, president elect, discuss staying focused on sustainability in commercial real estate. The second article highlights recipients of the BOMA-Atlanta TOBY Awards, awarded in February.

BOMA-Atlanta Receives BOMA International 2010 Best Practices Award
At this year's BOMA International Conference held in Long Beach, Calif. from June 27 - June 29, BOMA-Atlanta brought home the 2010 Best Practices Award in Electronic and Interactive Communications for its work on the GREEN Real Estate Summit website.
The website, launched in 2009, was the collaborative effort of BOMA staff and a web designer. The site was essential in supporting event attendance and participation.
Also at this year's conference, the late Rutledge Beacham, former
president of BOMA-Atlanta and BOMA Southern Region, was awarded
Life Membership posthumously. John Oliver, CPM, of Wells Real Estate Funds was also recognized as one of three Outstanding Members of the Year. Florence Barbour was appointed to the BOMA 360 Council and Gabriel Eckert was elected to the BOMA International Finance Committee.

(July 28) This course will

foundation in the basic principles of law & risk management. In

rights and environmental law. The course describes the risk management
process, covering assessment of loss exposures & handling daily
