What: Concussion Information Session and Baseline ImPACT Test

The ImPACT test is a brief (~ 30 minute) computerized, neuropsychiatric test designed to measure memory, reaction time and other cognitive functions.  ImPACT's series of tests are very sensitive to subtle changes in brain function that are not always detected by CT, MRI, or neurological examination. If an athlete suffers a concussion, a post-injury ImPACT test can be compared to a baseline (pre-injury) test to assess the athlete's recovery and readiness to return to sports safely.

Baseline ImPACT tests are recommended for all children who participate in a moderate or high-risk sport.*  Examples include football, lacrosse, soccer, basketball, hockey, field hockey and gymnastics.  Follow this link for more information about the ImPACT test.

Our first education and testing session will be on Tuesday, November 29th from 7:00 -8:00pm in the Westwood Office and will include a concussion education talk (led by Dr. Strauss) followed by the administration of the ImPACT test.  The cost for the session is $50 which must be paid at the time of the visit (unfortunately, baseline testing is not covered by insurance plans).**

Due to space restrictions we are only able to offer this test to 6 individuals at a time.  Please call out office to sign your child up (slots will be filled on a first come, first serve basis).  Once this session is filled up, all callers will be placed on a waiting list and notified when the next testing sessions become available.
