 NEW VIDEOS ON COMMON SUMMER CONDITIONS

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What an absolutely wonderful July 4th weekend -- Lots of sun, lots of swimming and hours upon hours of wonderful outdoor fun.  There were days full of picnics and beach time and nights full of fireworks and bonfires. However with all that summer fun comes bug bites, swimmer's ear and let's not forget - Lyme Disease.  Now to help you figure out what to do when these common summer conditions come about,  Westwood-Mansfield Pediatric Associates has developed videos to inform you about home care and when to seek medical attention.  New to our website are videos on swimmer's ear and facial bug bites as well as our Lyme Disease video.
Also new to the website are videos on Hand, foot, and mouth disease, Fifth's disease and what parents need to know about rashes.   Classic topics such as middle ear infections, toddler behavior and nutrition, and fighting consumerism round out the latest additions to our video library.
By clicking on any of these keywords in this newsletter you will be directed to our website videos.
The last several days have however been very, very hot.  As much as we want our children to spend all their summertime hours outdoors, this is not the time to push that issue.  Please make sure your children are drinking plenty of fluids, taking lots of rest time and even spending those hottest hours indoors or at least in a shaded area.  Check in frequently to make sure children are adequately hydrated as heat exhaustion and heat stroke are very serious conditions.
Let's all have a healthy summer!!!!
