This Sunday, April 1, 2012
Passion/Palm Sunday 8:15 a.m. Chapel 9:30 and 11 a.m. Sanctuary Sermon: "The Greatest Story Ever Told: What Jesus Really Said from the Cross" Scripture: Psalm 22 In agony on the cross, Jesus cries out to the Father, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" But few of us know what else he probably said. On this Passion/Palm Sunday, we hear some of the most poignant words possible. The stage is set for the momentous days to come. Music: The Sanctuary Choir will sing "Surely He Has Borne Our Griefs" by G. F. Handel at the 9:30 and 11 a.m. services. Also at the 9:30 and 11 a.m. services, all of the children's choirs will process with palms and sing the anthem "Sanctus (from Missa Choralis)" by Franz Liszt. Preschool classes process at 9:30.
Note: To accommodate special additions to our services this Sunday, our announcements will be at the beginning of the service.

Special Opportunity
Tomorrow, Friday, March 30, PHPC will host Mi Escuelita's Second Annual Spring Market from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. Over 100 vendors will be on site selling handmade, unique, one-of-a-kind children's toys, clothes, home decor, jewelry, even backed goods from local bakeries. All proceeds benefit Mi Escuelita Preschool, which teaches English to children from all cultures and prepares them for academic success. This Sunday at PHPC
North Dallas Shared Ministries Collection This Sunday we will be collecting donations for NDSM. The following items are needed: rice, cereal, tuna, macaroni and cheese, soup, peanut butter, pasta, spaghetti sauce, pineapple, sugar, toilet paper, toothpaste, sanitary napkins, bath soap, and laundry soap. NDSM has also requested carrots, mixed vegetables, refried and black beans, spinach, and baby food. Please leave your donation in the Atrium.
PW and First Friday Tickets This Sunday is your last chance to get tickets in the Atrium for the Presbyterian Women Missions Tea on April 15 and for the First Friday Luncheon on April 13. The PW Tea will feature a high tea, silent auction, and guest speaker, Clare Chaney. The First Friday Luncheon will feature Branch B. Nomination Forms for Leadership This Sunday kicks off the congregational nominating committee's call for nominations for Elders and Deacons (class of 2015). This year the committee is encouraging online nominations here. There will be a limited supply of paper nomination forms available at the Atrium counter.
Petting Zoo PHPC has partnered with CEPAD, Council of Protestant Churches of Nicaragua, to raise awareness for their project that helps improve the lives of rural Nicaraguan families by enabling them to move from subsistence living to economic independence. The Nicaragua Missions Team is sponsoring a petting zoo in Jubilee Plaza this Sunday and next to raise awareness. Come meet the animals and find out how you can help.
Easter Celebration Celebrate Easter with your church family at the Easter Celebration! Children ages 3 - 8 and their families are invited to enjoy Easter-themed games, crafts, story time, and snacks. This year we'll also have cookie decorating. Crafts will help children appreciate the true meaning of Easter in a fun and artistic way. This free event is in Jubilee Hall from 4 - 6 p.m., with an egg hunt at 5 p.m. (Bring your basket!)

Featured Holy Week Opportunity: Evening Prayer and Lenten Readings by J. Barrie Shepherd

PHPC is excited to welcome preacher, poet, and author, J. Barrie Shepherd on Monday and Tuesday evenings of Holy Week, April 2 and 3.
Dr. Shepherd is a native of Great Britain, and he was minister of the historic First Presbyterian Church in New York City. Shepherd has preached and lectured at Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Cornell, Dartmouth, Duke, and other universities, colleges, and seminaries, as well as in distinguished pulpits across the USA, Canada, the UK, Europe, and Africa. His notable books include Faces at the Cross: A Lent and Easter Collection of Poetry and Prose and Whatever Happened to Delight?: Preaching the Gospel in Poetry and Parables.
Join us for this unique opportunity on Monday, April 2, and Tuesday, April 3, at 7:30 p.m. in Emmanuel Hall. Child care provided with 48-hour reservation (214-368-6348, ext. 108).
