Sermon: Waiting for Word
When Eli served as priest in the Temple, the book of Samuel says "the word of God was rare." Have you ever felt that God was silent? What can we do, when we wait for word and nothing seems to happen? This favorite Hebrew text throws light on our struggles.

Preaching: Dr. Blair Monie

Music: The Sanctuary Choir will sing "O Divine Redeemer" by Charles Gounod at the 9:30 and 11 a.m. services.

A congregational meeting will be held on Sunday, January 22 at 10:30 a.m. to act on
Dr. Fran Shelton's request to dissolve her relationship with PHPC as Associate Pastor for Congregational Care. Fran's last day at PHPC will be February 15, 2012.

Fran commented on her time and PHPC and decision, "The joy I have experienced in serving as your Associate Pastor for Congregational Care is for me immeasurable. What a privilege it has been to listen to your faith-filled life stories, to be with you in times of darkness that turn to dawning, and to journey with you in God's truth and love. These experiences have stirred a deep desire within me to pursue the art and ministry of spiritual direction."

Fran's last Sunday at the church will be Sunday, February 5. A reception in Jubilee Hall will follow the 11 a.m. service.
