Second Sunday of Advent, Communion at all services
8:15 in the Chapel 9:30 and 11 a.m. services in the Sanctuary
Sermon: "Advent Conspiracy: Spend Less"
Before you think we're getting all Scrooge on you, let us explain what we mean. We like gifts. Our kids really like gifts. But consider this: America spends an average of $450 billion a year every Christmas. How often have you spent money on Christmas presents for no other reason than obligation? How many times have you received a gift out of that same obligation? Thanks, but no thanks, right? We're asking people to consider buying ONE LESS GIFT this Christmas. Just one. Sounds insignificant, yet many who have taken this small sacrifice have experienced something nothing less than a miracle -- they have been more available to celebrate Christ during the Advent season.
Preaching: Dr. Blair Monie
Music: At the 9:30 and 11 a.m. services, the Sanctuary Choir will sing "Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence" arranged by Gustav Holst.

Stewardship Update
Gratitude for God's gifts of great value can come in many forms, including the act of faithful giving. We are in the midst of our Stewardship Campaign for 2012. Our goal is the full participation of every member of our church, regardless of the amount pledged.
If you have already made your pledge for 2012, thank you! We are truly grateful for your faithful stewardship.
If you have pledged in the past and have not turned in your pledge for 2012, you will receive a personal phone call on Sunday, December 4, from one of your PHPC friends.
If you have not yet pledged, you can make your pledge online quickly and easily.
Thank you for your commitment and your love for our great church.

Old Fashioned Christmas in Downtown McKinney
Join us for a day trip to downtown McKinney on Thursday, December 8. Downtown McKinney is our premier area for an old fashioned Christmas "Home for the Holidays." Decorated with Christmas lights and balls, the atmosphere in the town square reminds us of everything old fashioned and joyous about the season. We'll leave the south parking lot at 9:30 a.m. in the church bus to arrive in McKinney for some sightseeing and shopping before lunch. Dine at the Pantry Restaurant or other unique spot. With over 100 boutiques, art galleries, bookstores, apparel, gifts and antique stores Downtown McKinney offers unique and special things, to admire or buy. After lunch there's time for more strolling and exploring before we depart at 3:15 p.m. for a return to the church parking lot by 4 p.m. Reservations are required by calling 214-368-6348, ext. 254 or online at www.phpc.org/bustrip. The ride on the church bus is free, with lunch at your own expense. With only 20 spots on the church bus, call now to reserve a seat for you and your friend. Led by Dee Wadsworth, this day trip offers fellowship and food of the Christmas season. Questions? Contact Dee Wadsworth at dwadsworth@phpc.org or 214-368-6348, ext. 118.
