BOSTON FIRST ROBOTICS
53 teams. 2 days. 1 awesome robotics competition.
The 2010 Boston FIRST Regional Robotics competition happens
this weekend at the Agganis Arena at Boston University. This year's challenge:
to score the most points "by shooting soccer balls into a goal, climbing on the
Alliance Tower or Platform, or by lifting and suspending an alliance robot off
the playing surface."
Did we mention this is a free and public event? This
Friday and Saturday you can go see the robots, meet their student developers, and
cheer on the participants. The
atmosphere is often described as "a rock concert that meets the Super
Bowl mixed with science and technology. Can't make it? Don't worry- you can still watch the
live webcast on the Boston FIRST website.

Edge Video Competition
Students interested in science, technology,
engineering, or math, grab your webcams and join Edge, the Cambridge Science Festival's first national
video contest. Make a video about an important issue, create an entertaining
demonstration of principles, and use your imagination to make something "light-hearted,
corny, or serious". The winning movie will be played at Cambridge
Science Festival Carnival on April 24. Submissions are due by April 10, 2010.
See the Cambridge Science Festival website for details.
And if you come to the Cambridge Science Fest on April 24th, be sure to stop by and
visit CTWBoston's Robotics booth!
