Greetings! carrie head shot
Hello everyone, and welcome to my November e-news! As the fall rapidly unfolds, many of us become increasingly stressed as we juggle our everyday lives and also adjust to the demands of the holidays fast approaching. It's important during this time of year to stay in touch with what keeps us focused and relaxed, and make sure we take a few minutes each day to connect with ourselves and our loved ones in a meaningful way. That might mean majungleking a real effort to tune out the external world for a while. Shut off the television and play some relaxing music instead. Connect with nature by taking a walk on the beach or in the woods, or exploring a new park or lake near you. If you do yoga or run, be as mindful as possible and don't compare yourself to others, as the point is to connect from within. In this way, you will better handle stress and the demands of the outside world. Try to eat as many fruits and vegetables as possible, and not overload on sugar and caffeine. And most importantly, don't forget to breathe!

The articles were challenging - one was a profile of a sociology professor, and the other highlights high school students on their path to a college career and how the prospect of college has already changed their lives for the better. Check my web site for links to the articles in the near future!

Helen Schulman's
"A Day at the Beach"
Shines on Many Levels

I have been a fan of Helen Schulman's writing for years, particularly her most recent novels, "The Revisionist" and "P.S." "A Day at the Beach" is another affirmation of her astounding skills as a novelist, particularly in the way she develops unique characters and heightens the plot in each progressing scene, not to mention her skills as a wordsmith.
