Program Objectives  
  1. Understand that as a result of immunosenescence, persons 65 years of age and   older do not respond to influenza vaccines as well as younger adults, and these older individuals suffer disproportionally from influenza-related morbidity and mortality despite relatively high immunization rates

  2. Describe the rationale for developing Fluzone High-Dose vaccine and FDA licensure of this vaccine using the Accelerated Approval Process for products intended to meet an unmet medical need for serious and life-threatening diseases

  3. Review safety and immunogenicity data from a recent phase III clinical trial, including data demonstrating that Fluzone High-Dose vaccine induces significantly higher antibody responses against all 3 influenza virus strains compared with standard-dose Fluzone vaccine among people 65 years of age and older
