Beth Or's Program Calendar for 2012-2013

The initial version of the Temple Program Calendar for the coming year is available at :

 Beth Or Event Calendar

Please bookmark this site so that it's easily available and will allow you keep up with what's going on at the Temple as well as be a part of the process of keeping it current and accurate.

Dates for all our traditional programs and holiday observances - except for the annual Testimonial/DinnerDance/Luncheon and next year's Yard Sale - are already included. Rabbi Kram is working on his schedule for the coming year so that we'll be able to note when he'll be leading Shabbat services and when there will be lay leadership.

Here's how you can help: If you see something missing or inaccurate - including the description of an event - or you have something that you think should appear on the calendar, please let Kathy or Michael Henry or Shep Faber know about it.

We encourage you to print out the calendar for each month and post it on your refrigerator or bulletin board. Since we have the ability to make instant additions and/or corrections to the calendar, it's a good idea to just print out one month at a time. If you have difficulty printing the calendar, let us know and we'll get a copy to you.

Man's Invicta watch

Superb Father's Day or Grad Gift

A brand new Invicta chronograph men's watch was graciously donated to our garage sale fundraiser. We contacted the company and learned the approximate value is $500.00 to $1,000, obviously not a garage sale item. Before eBaying it, we are checking with membership and friends.

This watch is handsome and big. It was made in 2011 and is still wrapped in the protective plastic and in the original box. It would be a superb Father's Day or Grad gift.

Specs are as follows: Stainless Steel, Japan Movement, Water Resistant, 50M/165 Ft., Model #1B141704-001.

The front dial has the I logo, the back has the Invicta name with a larger logo. The instruction sheet says: Operation Manual ... VD8 Retrograde Series.

We are open to all offers.   Email is preferred so we have your offer in writing: bethortemple@aol.com

Garden and Grounds

Beth Or's  ORGANIC GARDEN continues to grow!

Though our Organic Garden lacks a green-thumb Team, we have:

a) a dozen new Collard plants working to survive the summer heat

b) 5 new Banana trees (Red Dwarf, Sweet Heart, Ice Cream, Goldfinger, Sweet Heart, Mona Lisa varieties) and

c) Working closely with nature we also raise some Wild Edibles

More News:

  • The Beth Or Irrigation system will be upgraded thanks to a $2,800 grant.
  • The Potting Shed has a fresh coat of 'Leprechaun Green' paint and was tidied up by Noli Matzulis.
  • We support the Childrens' World Montessori School's organic gardening efforts under the direction of Lead Teacher, Mary Argumendo.

Do's and Don'ts:

  • Don't step on a bed (your weight compresses the soil, reducing 'friability')
  • If you don't know what to do-ASK
  • Learn as much as you can about organic-veganic methods- Rodale's magazine is a good resource

Kavanah by Rabbi Mark  "...to help build up our people, our institutions and our strength so that we continue to l'takein olam b'malchut Shaddai, to 'repair the world under the kingdom of heaven.'  Let's get our hands deliciously "dirty" in this endeavor as we grow and sustain our beloved community."

Veganically Yours,

Jeff Tucker,

Garden Manager
