New Year's Greetings,
Here is the Men's Reading and Recreation Group agenda for the next three months:
February 7- Shep Faber will facilitate a discussion of Breakpoint, by Richard A. Clark. One reviewer said: "Richard Clarke has just shot to the top of my list of people I'd love to interview. In only three books, one nonfiction and two fiction, he's grabbed my attention and paranoia about all the scientific and technological changes that are going on -- and that will be going on -- in the world."
March 14- Bob Olian will lead a lecture/discussion centering on The Nine: Inside the Secret World of the Supreme Court by Jeffrey Toobin. Toobin takes an intimate look at the diverse group of justices and their decisions who have served on the Supreme Court over the past two decades. These decisions include abortion, separation of church and state, affirmative action and the death penalty and more. He covers two especially deeply: the Clinton impeachment case and Bush v. Gore, when the Court, by a 5-4 vote. There is no need to worry if you haven't read every page. Bob is a retired attorney who has argued before the Supreme Court and he'll be drawing on materials from several sources. Bob and his wonderful wife Lynn were members of Havurah of South Florida and plan to join Beth Or. Date TBA- Tom Gammon suggested the Men's R & R group go on a "field" trip to Washington, D.C. to include the Supreme Court, of course. We haven't traveled since our successful Chicago and NYC outings. What do you think? Email me your feedback. Another idea: How much interest would you have in a book that would help us explore a bit of Islam along with a visit to a mosque? What interesting book have you read lately that might tie in? Send me any suggestions for the "good and welfare" of our group you might have.
We meet at 1:00 at the Starbucks in Suniland Plaza, 11515 S. Dixie Highway.

Extreme Makover Nominations
The ABC's Emmy award winning TV series "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." is in the process of finding families who are deserving and in need of a new home for our next season of the show, and we want to move that bus to MIAMI/DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA.
We're looking for inspirational members of the community who, for whatever reason, need a new home. While we know that there are so many families in need all over this country, we want to focus on people that have given back in some way despite their personal hardships.
