Greetings!

Ahhhhhh Spring!  How sweet the sound or should I say how sweet the sun?  The sunshine has awakened sleepy winter hearts and we are seeing an increase in activity in the boat yard.  People are out working on their boats and many boats have gone in the water with more making plans to do so.  In this issue we talk about how to make your sailing life a little easier.  None of us are too old to learn new tricks.

As always, we look forward to your comments and suggestions. We are also interested in what topics you would like to see. Email the Torresen Sailing Newsletter to let us know what you think.

Where: Torresen Marine, Inc.
When: Saturday, May 30th 12:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Provided by: Muskegon Sail & Power Squadron

What is a Vessel Safety Check?
It is a free check of a vessel's equipment for compliance with federal, state and local safety requirements.  Some of the items checked are:

Proper display of numbers
Backfire flame control
Sound producing devices
Navigation lights
State & local requirements
Overall vessel condition
Ventilation
Registration/Documentation
Personal flotation devices
Visual distress signals
Fire extinguishers

During the Vessel Safety Check the examiner has an opportunity to discuss with a fellow boater the purpose of the marine safety equipment, to clarify various federal, state, and local regulations, to review local boating conditions, to answer any boating-related safety questions and to encourage additional boater education.

Do take this opportunity to have a safe boating season.  Sign in at Torresen Marine Ships Store for this inspection.  If you have any questions regarding this program you may contact:
