New Delhi The capital city is divided in
two parts - Old and New Delhi. 'Old' Delhi, the capital of Muslim India between the mid-17th and late
19th centuries, is full of formidable mosques, monuments and forts. We visit Jamma Mosque (1650) and drive through the fabled area of Chandni Chowk (aptly
translates to Moonlight Square) where the throngs of shoppers and vendors meet
in the oldest area of Delhi. We will be visiting such sights
as Humayun's Tomb (1586) followed by the Qutab Minar, 72 meters high and one of
the most perfect towers in the Persian world. This Iron Pillar which has
survived the vagaries of weather for over 1500 years. A visit to the Birla
Temple. Known by its dual popular name "Laxmi Devi" (Goddess of Wealth) and "
Narayana" (Preserver). It was founded by Mahatma Gandhi on his belief that it
should be open to all castes and faiths. Hence, you do not find any
discrimination at all. All are welcome to this place which has been dedicated
to humanity.

Haridwar is a holy city. Haridwar stands for Gateway to God,
with 'hari' meaning god and 'dwar' meaning gate. Haridwar is regarded as one of
the seven holiest places to Hindus, as the devas
are said to have left their footprints there. According to Hindu mythology, Haridwar is one among the four sites where
drops of the elixir of immortality Amrita
accidentally spilled over from the pitcher (or Kumbha), in
which it was being carried away by the celestial bird Garuda, the
vehicle of Vishnu.
Haridwar is where the Kumbha Mela is celebrated, cyclically once
every 12 years. Here, millions of pilgrims, devotees, and tourists congregate
from all over the world to celebrate this celestial event and perform
ritualistic bathing on the banks of the river Ganga.

Rishikesh (also spelled Hrishikesh), - The land of the Rishi's, sages, divinely inspired, poets, another name for Lord Vishnu, is a
holy city for Hindus
located in the foothills of the Himalaya in northern India. The sacred river Ganga
(anglicized to Ganges) flows through Rishikesh. It is believed that meditation
in Hrishikesh brings one closer to the attainment of salvation
or moksha
as does a dip in the holy
river that flows through it.

Nine-Day Yoga Nidra Retreat

international faculty from the Himalayan tradition.

Swami Veda was initiated into one of the highest paths of meditation by his master, the celebrated yogi Swami Rama of the Himalayas. Swami Veda was honored by the Swamis of India who conferred on him the title of Mahamadaleshwara, placing him among the top 200 or so of the half million monks of the Swami order of India. |

Vasishta Cave Approximately 10 miles out of town, along windy roads in the Himalayan
foothills, is a hallowed spot called Vasishta
Gufta, two caves where the Hindu sage and yogi Vasishta did his
sadhana ages ago. The main cave is about 30 feet
deep or more, and can hold about a dozen people. The cave shown here
was Vasishta's "summer" cave, close to
a small beach along the Ganges river. The saffron robed fellow is one
of the monk care takers of the caves and nearby
temple.
One of the sacred Himalayan caverns settled by
one Shiva's original devotees, Vasishta.
How amazing that it still exists on earth where, deep in the
Himalayas, austerities are still performed to the God Shiva in this
cave.
It is said these meditation rituals have been carried on from then to
now, after the example left by the venerable sage, Vashista,
after whom the shrine is named. The name,Vashista, means 'Guru of Ram'.
