"But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired." -The Greatest Love Story Ever Told

We are a part of the Hope Revolution that waits for the Lord.

We are not waiting to lose our job; we are not waiting for our marriage to end, we are not waiting for cancer to spread, we are not waiting for someone to hurt us again or a bad report from the physician, WE ARE WAITING FOR THE LORD.

Hope has nothing to do with sight or what you currently have (it has to do with what you are expecting and preparing for.)

Hope rejoices in what is unseen and conveys the absolute certainty of future good.  Hope is of such value and importance that it is joined to faith and love. Yet throughout Bible history, we find great men of God who have lost hope. Last week, we examined Job.

In Lamentations 3:19-24, we examine Jeremiah's struggle with hopelessness: "[O Lord] remember [earnestly] my affliction and my misery, my wandering and my outcast state, the wormwood and the gall. My soul has them continually in remembrance and is bowed down within me. (Verse 19-20.)

As you can see, one memory had brought him to misery, shame, bitterness and rejection that he likened to wormwood and gall. "Gall" was a bitter, poisonous plant that grows up quickly. Remember the drink offered to Christ on the cross was vinegar mingled with "gall" to make him insensible to the pain. But Christ refused it. He would take nothing to numb the pain or blunt the pain of physical death.

Yet so many times, we accept the cup that Christ refused at the hands of men. We take a drink from the cup of a bitter experience or an injustice to blunt the pain God deems necessary for death to occur.

Maybe you say, "Ed it hurts; you don't know what they did; they lied, they cheated, they stole, they gossiped;" yet all the while, God is saying, "Put that cup down. Don't drink that; you've had enough; I AM THE HOPE OF YOUR CALLING; and I'm doing a work IN YOU in spite of what they did."

RIGHT NOW, God wants to put that worst season of your life to death, so He can bury it and bring new resurrection life, BUT WE WON'T DIE.  We keep hanging there on the cross delaying the crucifixion; drinking that bitter cup (of what people did to us, what we did to ourselves, how we failed God, how people betrayed us), refusing to say "Father forgive them for they know not what they do."

This is where Jeremiah was in his life.

One memory had brought him back to the worst season of his life (and career) where the people he loved or respected had humiliated, betrayed and rejected him. But now this same memory restored him to hope AND EXPECTATION OF THE ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY OF FUTURE GOOD:

"But this I recall and THEREFORE HAVE I HOPE AND EXPECTATION: It is because of the Lord's mercy and loving-kindness that we are not consumed, because His [tender] compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great and abundant is Your stability and faithfulness. The Lord is my portion or share, says my living being (my inner self); therefore will I hope in Him and wait expectantly for Him. The Lord is good to those who wait hopefully and expectantly for Him, to those who seek Him [inquire of and for Him and require Him by right of necessity and on the authority of God's word]."(Verse 21-25)

ONE MEMORY. BUT TWO VERY DIFFERENT RESULTS.

Like a double edged sword, Jeremiah's memory first reminded him of shattered hopes and dreams with one blade, and then slew the depression, defeat and guilt that tried to consume him with the other.

That's why the Apostle Paul said: "Set your minds on things that are above." Because at any point in our lives, our thoughts are either in covenant with God or satan.

Let's face it, you might not ever hear that relative or friend say I'm sorry. You may not ever see that loved one change. You may not ever see that boss promote you. But don't put your hope or trust in chariots and horses (the validation, strength and opinion of man.) Don't hope in the government. Don't hope in Wall Street or the real estate market; or in your industry, boss or employer for promotion.

Hope in God.

Jesus is the "HOPE OF THIS CALLING" because He has the power of an endless and indestructible Life. And since our life is HIDDEN in Christ; because God Himself is an inexhaustible resource, we are constantly looking forward to some sudden blessing, sudden breakthrough, strength, open door, miracle or transformation in our life.

This week, we invite you to join our Hope Revolution campaign.

A revolution is: a sudden, complete or radical change in something.

In a time of economic crisis, some governments, banks, stockbrokers, auto manufacturers, insurance companies and people have failed us and many have lost hope.

But God has called you to be a bridge of inspiration and hope. Therefore, your marriage must work, so it can inspire others. Your business must succeed, so others can have hope that the recession did not win.

DON'T GIVE UP HOPE.

Today, join us as we declare words and leave hope notes that will inspire others not to abandon hope.

THIS WEEK, LEAVE "HOPE NOTES" IN UNEXPECTED PLACES:(don't text them) at your local coffee shop, on your next flight, on the mirror of a public restroom, on the windshield of someone's car, on your spouse's bathroom mirror; on a post it placed on a co-worker's computer.

We believe we can initiate transformation and radical change through our "Hope Revolution Campaign." That we can inspire hope that produces a movement in your life despite what you see around you (in the job market and economy.)

Just because you lost your job, home, car, savings, business or client, doesn't mean you have to lose your hope and dreams.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for (not the substance of things you fear for.)

Where true God-like faith is, it will work by love and in hope or expectation in advance of physical confirmation: In other words, it will first trust.
