"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them."

DEAR READERS:  I will be returning from sabbatical in December 2010.  I will continue to blend guest authors and remixed transcripts from previous Champions BYTES with new, fresh content in 2011.  Thank you for your faithful reading and forwarding of Champions BYTES in my absence.  - Ed Norwood

"Out of them [city and palace] will come songs of thanksgiving and the voices of those who make merry. And I will multiply them, and they will not be few; I will also glorify them, and they will not be small."  -The Greatest Love Story Ever Told

You and I will increase in proportion to the level of our thanksgiving (thankfulness and generosity.)

Your success in marriage, business, the workplace and any other endeavor is proportionate to your ability to continually give God thanks (gratitude, appreciation, acknowledgment, glory) for all the good that He is doing in your life right now.

If you complain, you remain.

God refuses to bless a stingy, thankless person. Sometimes, He will allow delays disguised as denials to grant us patience and experience in how to respond when there are not enough fishes and loaves to feed the multitude. He's looking for a response to "the sacrifice of thanksgiving" required of us. He's wants to know how we will respond when we get a $1.00 raise, instead of a $10.00 raise.

God expects us daily, despite our insufficiency, to fall at His feet and thank Him. It is our offering of thanksgiving that restores us to spiritual, physical, emotional and financial health and well being.

When thanksgiving "flows" from this house (this city), there is promised increase and multiplication as God refuses to leave us where we are.

If it had not been for the Lord on your side in 2010, where would you be?

What circumstance would've overwhelmed you?

What ambush in your life would have killed you or destroyed your faith and dreams?

Jeremiah, who prophesied the exile and the destruction of the Temple, was actually ambushed by his own people. Yet despite this ill-treatment and despite seeing his prophecies fulfilled, he never lost hope and continued to pray for his city; and while in exile, under the inspiration of the Spirit, he penned this promise from God: "Out of this city, shall flow songs of thanksgiving..."

HISTORICALLY, Great men and women ARE individuals that GIVE UP THEIR RIGHT TO HURT THOSE THAT HAVE HURT THEM.

This promise today is yours and to a thousand generations: "Out of this city (this recession, this sickness, unemployment, prison, family, bankruptcy, hurt, disappointment, or whatever you are currently facing) shall flow songs of thanksgiving."

YOU ARE THE CITY (GEOGRAPHIC EXPRESSION OR LOCATION) THAT MUST PRAISE HIM.

For many in the USA, thanksgiving is a time of reflection, a time to express gratitude. But for others, it is traditionally known as a time of overindulgence (of turkey as well as football, basketball and other spectator sports) and the beginning of the frenzied "Black Friday" which starts the Christmas shopping season.

It is easy to become dissatisfied and disgruntled when your season or life is mired in bad news, injuries and mediocrity.  Great and significant people are often unappreciated by those they love.

But when God hears a song of thanksgiving flow out of your jail cell (or crisis) at midnight, a song of thanksgiving flow out of your loneliness, a song of thanksgiving flow out of your diagnosis, brokenness, dysfunction, depression, loss and pain it is a signal that alerts Heaven there is a sacrifice of praise still (left) in this earth(en) vessel.

Angels begin to declare, "There it is on the radar, Lord; send blessing there; send increase, favor, miracles and restoration to THAT CITY where expectation still lives."

King David wrote: "I will praise the name of God with a song and will magnify Him with thanksgiving"

What will YOU praise the name of God with today?

Is there a sacrifice of thanksgiving left inside you?

Today, align your lifestyle to His character, so that His life, anointing, power and gratefulness can find expression through you.

Be thankful.

Today, I am thankful for a Savior that intensely loves (and forgives) me, an incredible wife that amazes me, three children that inspire me (to be better), pastors that never give up on me, a mom that made me a champion for others, a mother-in-law who accepts me, a brother-in-law who challenges me, a staff that extends me, leaders that climb to the next level with me, Champions BYTES Subscribers that encourage and bless me, God's provision and favor that continues to increase me, and the Starbucks staff that makes my Venti Soy Chai (with no water, two pumps of vanilla and whip crème on top).

What are you thankful for?

"He who brings an offering of praise and thanksgiving honors and glorifies Me; and he who orders his way aright [who prepares the way that I may show him], to him I will demonstrate the salvation of God." -King David
