Smaller Spaces Newsletter June 2012
|
|
Half a month gone already and I've finally managed to write my newsletter! June is a big month for moving and selling houses. With all the moving comes getting rid of stuff, so I thought I'd talk about giving to charities this month.
I hope you enjoy the read!

Top 10 Ways to Win-Win
If you need to get rid of something that you really love (or spent lots of money on), why not feel good about helping someone less fortunate?
Here are my top ten places to donate in Victoria, in no particular order: They can send a truck to pick up clothes: shoes, pants, shirts, coats, blouses, belts, jeans, hats, dresses, socks, etc. in good condition, household items like dishes, pans, pots, cutlery, small appliances in working condition, furniture that is not broken and needing repairs and has no tears, stains, or wear marks. Whew!
They are currently seeking donations of wheelchairs, walkers, bathroom aids and power patient lifts for their Equipment Loan program. In-kind donation tax receipts are available for donated equipment. If you would like a receipt, make this clear at the time you make your donation.
They collect women's business clothing for their employment program. Suits, coats, shoes, tailored pants, jewelry, handbags and other accessories are welcome! They will pick up your appliances, cabinets, floor coverings and furnishings, fixtures, tools and building supplies and resell them in their store or use them for Habitat for Humanity projects.
They will send a truck to your home to pick up donations of clothing, household items, books, furniture, or anything else that can sell in their stores. They also have a recycling centre at their Quadra St location where you can dispose of things like electronics and metal.
WIN accepts household items, decorative items, electronics, books, toys, clothing, fashion accessories and furniture. They can send a truck to pick up furniture and boxes of items.
In addition to food, they welcome all clean, gently-used clothes and home appliances to help stock their Home Start and Clothing Bank programs.
They are looking for clothing, toys, household items that they distribute to families in need...over 500 families use their resources each month. Big Brothers Big Sisters
They provide free pickup of clothing, linens, shoes, fabric and household goods. They fund their programs by selling these items to Value Village. They gladly accept better-quality women's fashions, jewelry, accessories, collectibles and household items during store hours. |
