Summer Newsletter
July Edition

Dear (Contact First Name),

Welcome to Summer!  High humidity and 100 degree afternoons won't deter us from enjoying the best that the summertime has to offer.  With so many corporate galas, backyard BBQ's and outdoor weddings to attend to, the staff here at Jacques is as determined as ever to make every event spectacular.

It sure has been a busy summer, with events such as 2012's Summer Solstice Gala for Drumthwacket Foundation, Priscilla & Ralph's wedding ceremony and reception at St. Charle's Seminery, as well as hundreds of Graduation parties, Clam Bakes, and Backyard Picnics.

But it doesn't end there.  For those of you beginning to plan your wedding, our next Bridal Showcase will be held this Wednesday, July 18 at our Reception Center in Middletown.  Join us at 6pm for cocktails and appetizers in our Ceremonial Gardens, followed by live entertainment and some of the best wedding vendors from all over New Jersey.  Later in July we will be donating our services to the Eastern Monmouth Chamber of Commerce to benefit the Two River Theatre, and to the Visiting Nurse Association of Central New Jersey to benefit community based health programs.  We end the summer with weddings at the Water Witch Club and hundreds more BBQ's, tents, snow cone machines and soooo much more.

There is just so much to plan for and our Catering Consultants are ready to assist you.  Call us for suggestions or just for some advice in planning your next event.

Stay cool and in the shade,

Steve Mamola and the Staff at Jacques

BRIDAL SHOWCASE Garden C.H.
Mark your calendear,  Wednesday July 18, 2012 is when many leading NJ wedding professionals will be gathered at Jacques Reception Center for our Summer Bridal Showcase, coordinated by Wedding-Set-Go

For those who have never been, and are wondering what a wedding showcase is, the answer is clear; an evening full of flavor, style, and dance!  The night will commence outdoors in our Ceremonial Garden with a presentation showcasing some of the various equipment needed to execute a successful Off-Site wedding.  Displays of our tents, chairs, and dance floors will be on hand.  Coconut Breaded Shrimp, Bocconcini Lollipops, BBQ Pulled Pork over Polenta Crisps are just some of the bit sized delights that will be elegantly passed.  Stationary cold  appetizers consisting of Cold Poached Salmon with Cucumber Dill sauce, and Baked French Brie with dried cranberries, sugared pecans, and sliced apples will also be available for your enjoyment.

Now enter our Grand Foyer, intensified by the floral vases filled with abundant fresh cut summer blooms.  Mingle and chat with the various photographers, florists, and other vendors that will be available to help you plan your special day.   Feast on even more of the exquisite cuisine that Jacques has to offer.  Grilled Tequila-Lime Marinated Chicken with Mango Salsa, Gourmet Swedish Meatballs, and Penne a la Vodka sauce, just to name a few.  All elegantly displayed in silver chafing dishes.

Experience the newest addition to our menu, the Salt Block Beef Tataki Action Station.  Using exotic pink blocks of Himalayan Salt heated to 600 degrees; one of our professional chefs will grill thinly sliced filet mignon for a delicately salty flavor, the likes of which you have never eaten.  Accompanied with Asian slaw & carbonated wasabi, this new station will be the talk of the evening.

Dance to the groove of Wedding Set Go DJ's, New Jersey's trend setting entertainment company.  Also on hand and performing live will be the cover band Living Proof USA.  All this excitement plus a runway fashion show directed by True Love Bridal. Total high energy and excitement!

If this was not enough, for dessert, our preferred bakery, Cupcake Magician, will be on hand presenting a gourmet cupcake station. Mini chocolate and vanilla cakes topped with some of our favorite wedding cake fillings for you to indulge your sweet tooth. Upon the evening's closure, guests will be treated to gift bags consisting of freshly baked home-style cookies from Jacques Caterers, and one lucky bride will be the winner of a $500.00 travel voucher courtesy of Travelsmiths.

BBQ's TIPS
Event planner Marla Brown creates inspiring parties for a living and this past Father's Day Burger BBQ is no exception. Read her tips on how to turn a simple BBQ into a stylish event, all with a little attention to detail.

"For something different that's a fantastic conversation piece, add a hydroponic wheat grass runner down the centre of your table for an instantly fresh look and feel. You can always create this look by using smaller squares of wheat grass in glass vases (we recommend 4" cubes) and run them lengthwise down your table. No matter how you do this table treatment, expect your guests to "ooh" and "ahh" all night long. Turn your food into art and insert bamboo skewers with your favorite one-bite sandwich wrap right into the roots of the wheat grass runner and voila. No platters required. Just more praise for your domestic abilities!

We took two stems of these gorgeous green phaleonopsis orchids and stuck them right into the roots of the wheat grass runner, then covered with a glass case. This takes about two minutes to make and adds a visually stunning detail to the table.

Even lettuce and ketchup can have their 15 minutes of fame. We displayed condiments in gorgeous silver glass vases, nestled them into our grass runner and created an interactive table center.

The only thing left is the most important -- time to eat."
Drumthwacket Foundation Gala

On Wednesday, June 20 the Drumthwacket Foundation hosted their annual Solstice Gala.  A grand Cocktail Reception to benefit the ongoing renovations to the official residence of the Governor of New Jersey.  Jacques Caterers, in coordination with the NJ Restaurant Association organized an evening of celebration highlighted by Governor Christie's impromptu performance with the band.  The cuisine was provided by 14 of the area's best restaurants and chefs, all on hand to showcase some of their signature dishes.  Guests also dined on Seared Ahi Tuna Kabobs with Carbonated Wasabi Dressing, Braised Short Ribs of Beef over Buttermilk Biscuits, and an assortment of other appetizers and sweets provided by Jacques Caterers.

Solar Power

Jacques Reception Center has made a commitment to renewable energy.  It has taken almost a year of planning and installation, a financial commitment of over $250,000, as well as constant collaboration with the architects, and engineers but as of July 1, our new solar energy system is fully operational.  It will have the capacity to generate over 70,000 kilowatts of power.  However it is not enough to just add solar panels to our roof.  The goal is to reduce our energy consumption overall.  To help accomplish this we have so far removed 90% of our incandescent and halogen light bulbs and replaced them with the most energy efficient LED bulbs available. This will cut our energy usage by an additional 6000 kilowatts per year. These changes, combined with other "Green" initiatives we are implementing, will help us in protecting our environment and controlling the soaring cost of energy. We will keep you updated on our progress and some of the other changes involved in our "Going Solar" program. For more information on solar power and renewable energy, check out our installer, Garden State Solar.

Watermelon &

.
Feta Salad

Watermelon! I can't begin to tell you how much I've bought, and eaten so far this summer. I always keep some in the fridge at all times. It's so refreshing. Take some to the beach, make a summer punch, use it in a salad, ahhh.

This simple salad can be adapted in a hundred different ways. This is a very basic version, but feel free to add things you like - maybe some black olives, capers, chopped coriander or maybe even some Tabasco sauce for a little kick.
1 watermelon wedge
cut in 1" cubes
Crumbled Feta cheese
1/2  red onion, finely diced
Juice of 1 fresh lime

Just toss all ingredients together and enjoy on a hot summer afternoon.
