February's Backpocket Option
Western Washington Fly Fish Only Lakes

The middle of winter can be great for a number of things, but at times it can be downright tough to get in your trout fix. Western Washington has a number of fly fish only lakes that hold large, healthy trout year round. Pass Lake, Cady Lake and even Rattlesnake Lake offer some really big trout opportunities throughout the winter. Often times, these fish will move out of their comfort zone for for large, worthwhile food sources. Think large leaches, buggers and zonkers. Try 5-7 wt. rods with a combination of floating and sinking lines depending on water depth/clarity.
You don't have to drive to Montana to catch a 22" Brown...the above photo was mid-winter at Pass lake on a size 2 green/black conehead bugger.  Go get 'em...

Come in to the shop or call us to talk about locations and closures.
