Child's Voice April Newsletter2012

Learning for Teachers Too

Child's Voice is happy to be a site for student-teachers, internships and externships.  In 2011-2012,  Child's Voice will host 6-10 students on site. They are spread across Early Intervention (Speech Language Pathology), the School Program and the Audiology Center.

These students-teachers, practicum students and externs are great additions to the staff. By hosting a student-teacher, the individual instructors are able to explain what their process is for the various curriculum and activities.  This type of focus allows the staff to think through what they're doing in a very detailed way.  Student-teachers bring a new perspective and fresh ideas that can help in the classrooms.  READ MORE

Child's Voice Supporters Cheer "Go Cubs!"

400 Child's Voice

The Lynk family
all bundled up!.

alumni, families, friends and supporters gathered on Saturday, April 21st to cheer on the Chicago Cubs!

Special thanks to the Chicago Cubs for their generous donation of tickets to this game and to our supporters, families and friends that attended the game.  It was a chilly day and one family commented that they felt they were dressed more for a Bears game than a Cubs game.  Nonetheless, Cubs win!

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.

April 16 - 22 was National Volunteer Week and at Child's Voice we would like to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU!

It's been said that many hands make light work.  The  author of this statement must have known the heart of a volunteer.

We are fortunate to have many parents (both current and alumni), grandparents, friends, community members and staff that volunteer much of their time to support the daily needs of Child's Voice.

We agree wholeheartedly with the following statement. "Volunteers are the only human beings on the face of the earth who reflect this nation's compassion, unselfish caring, patience and just plain loving one another." - Erma Brombeck.

At Child's Voice, we could not achieve the daily miracles and amazing successes without the support of these tireless volunteers.  Please take a moment to say thank you to the volunteers you know.  We are so grateful for all of you.

Thank you for what you do for Child's Voice and the many other organizations and charities that you support.  This month we celebrate you!

Getting to Know...
Child's Voice Board Members

Sandie Hord

Sandie joined the Child's Voice Board of Directors in 2009 and we're so glad to have her! Sandie found out about Child's Voice through a familiar face, Board President Mark Levy and "fell in love with the school and what it accomplishes for the children."

She's wasted no time getting involved and currently serves as the Advancement Committee Chair, helping to find connections in the community and corporate world to assist in the fundraising effort for Child's Voice.  Sandie has also been active on the Child's Voice Golf Tournament committee.

In her professional life, Sandie is in the insurance industry working for Gallagher Benefit Services, Inc. with small business groups and individuals providing health care benefits.

Sandie lives in Keeneyville (unincorporated Bloomingdale Township) with Ralph, her husband of 36 years. They have three adult children and six grandchildren.  She keeps busy with all her family and another passion, horseback riding.  Sandie trains in Dressage style riding and owns two horses.

Thank you Sandie for all you do to help spread the great word of Child's Voice!
